1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible!, March 18, 2010

I know that so many of the BS fans would love to believe this is good music, but it is simply bush league.

Everyone seems to either love this CD or hate it. I have a third opinion: This is a truly average band, playing truly average music, with influences that are painfully obvious, & ability that doesn't quite master those influences. In other words, just like 100,000 other bands who either never got record deals or distribution or airplay or publicity. The difference is that these guys GOT all those things, so we know they exist. Anyone who was hanging out in rock bars a few years ago heard these guys virtually every night under a different name every night, & it was fine, -for the circumstances-. Apparently many of the reviewers here have never heard such bands. Now you have.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm. Do I smell phony reviews here ?, February 17, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Release the Hounds (Audio CD)
Quite a few avid fans (FIVE STARS) have gone out of their way to share their praise. That's nice.

But I notice that a significant number of these five-star reviewers have not reviewed a single CD, DVD, or book by any other recording artist, director or author. Nope. Just this one CD.

Now I'm just a Kid, but when I see folks spouting about how this is their favorite band and asking "when will they tour" and "why isn't music like this played on the radio", and all that stuff, I'd have to think that these are the kind of folks who also like to tell the world about all the other things they like (or dislike) and want to see more of (or less of). They seem to have strong opinions, you know ?

But apparently this one CD is the only work to move many of them in that direction. Isn't that strange ?

Now, I don't think they're all phony reviews. Maybe they're not all made-up people either. Maybe one or two were 'friends of friends', or whatnot, wanting to say something nice. Maybe they were friends who even liked the music.

But look at this one - "Release the Hounds is simply unbelievable. This music brings rock back to the forefront by using the guitar in a way that can only be compared to the more seasoned rockers of the past 30 years. This collection has both great hard guitar songs ..., as well as harmony songs ... that prove these guys can diversify their talents and still put out a CD worthy of everyone's listening." Now that smells real bad to me. That smells just like advertising copy. And there are a few others like that.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. It doesn't really matter too much to me.

Still, I had to counter the reviewer who said "Best new rock group since the Beatles" with my vote of ONE STAR. I mean really, that's just stupid. Even to a Kid.
