Pedco's UltraPod II Camera Tripod is a study in utility and economy, so I was surprised at how useless the Quick Release Mount is. I bought both items to use with my new Fujifilm X-M1 camera, which I also bought from Amazon. The Fujifilm X-M1 is a fairly light point and shoot camera, however, the Quick Release Mount isn't made to hold anything in a fixed position.

Yes, a camera can be mounted and unmounted quickly and easily, but should you wish to hold your camera at a fixed angle, well, this mount can't do that.

The bottom line for me is that this item should not be shown with the UltraPod II Tripod as "Frequently Bought Together", as one holds a camera firmly in position and the other simply does not.

I would not recommend that anyone buy the Quick Release Mount.

It is difficult for me to explain it, but... Ones the camera is locked in to the quick release mount, you can still spin the camera on it. Even the wind move your camera.

This quick release mount works fine and is relatively simple to attach to the Ultrapod II. In reference to the other reviews reporting camera movement, to stop the camera rotating in the quick release base after mounting the camera, you need to tighten the thumbwheel fixed in the base (as seen in the photo). This will hold the camera in place. Of course, to release the camera, you need to loosen the thumbwheel first. My camera is probably at the upper end of weight for the tripod (Panasonic GM1) but I have no issues with this mount.

Works as it should. No problems installing or using at any time. Makes attaching it to the tri-pod super simple. Recommended product!
