More About the Author

I first got interested in computers because they had an Escape key. How bad could they be? Soon after, I left my corporate job and launched Computer Clarity in 1996, a consulting practice where I share my philosophy of learning and enthusiasm for technology with over 250 clients.

I wrote "Computer Ease" to bridge the gap between people and computers. I've also published over 100 articles on business and technology topics nationwide. I'm a national speaker at conferences on technology, writing and publishing, and a prolific blogger.

Please note that "Social Media Handbook" is obsolete, and has been replaced by "Blog Power & Social Media Handbook" and you know why you need that! My earlier book: "Release Your Writing: Book Publishing Your Way," sustains and educates people making the transition from Writer to Author!

Oh, and I've won a few shiny awards for my writing and community involvement.

Format: Paperback
What a stroke of luck! I'm half-finished with a book on 16th century history and have culled so many good ideas from this book in such a short time that it's marked up in probably 30 separate places. I learned so much about handling the manuscript in Word; I wish I had this kind of instant help when I wrote my first book four years ago. Things are really changing in the publishing industry and I'm now ready to tackle the promotion for my book.

Format: Paperback
From her considerable experience as both a writer and a computer consultant, Helen Gallagher has produced a very useful book to help authors, whether beginning or ready-to-publish, get their books into print. Her approach is a practical, businesslike, common sense one.

Gallagher examines the changing publishing industry and advocates self-publishing and/or POD (Print-on-Demand) for those whose work is unlikely to attract the attention of a large publisher. "Attract a publisher if you can, but if not, don't wait your life away."

The author also covers many details of word processing, organizing materials, creating a contact database, and the various business aspects of being a writer.

This is an excellent guide for anyone who writes a book and begins to wonder, "What's next? How do I get this published?"

Marlys Marshall Styne, Author of "Seniorwriting: A Brief Guide for Seniors Who Want to Write."

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful By Cynthia Clampitt on November 15, 2007
Format: Paperback
The information in this "action-packed" volume is tremendously helpful. My own book, Waltzing Australia, had been published before I found Helen's book, but I have still found it immensely valuable for the wealth of marketing ideas. I also appreciate the tips on using the computer more efficiently. This is a wonderful resource for any writer, traditionally published or self-published, because we can always use more tools -- and more market exposure.

Format: Paperback
If you're a writer who's looking for practical advice on how to write, publish, market, promote your book, and keep it alive once it's out there, Helen Gallagher's Release Your Writing: Book Publishing, Your Way! is the book for you. My yellow highlighter was flying off its 200 pages while I noted valuable tips on how to move forward with the publishing process. In fact, by the time I was finished reading this gem, nearly the entire book was highlighted. Furthermore, the book is written in such a down-to-earth tone that you'd better set an extra place because you'll feel as if Gallagher is sitting across from you at your kitchen table. So whether you're in the preliminary outline stage, in the midst of writing your manuscript, or giving it a final edit, read Gallagher's book before you launch yours. You'll be grateful you did.
