This is a great one.
All songs from this period you wanna listen to.
The sound can be a bit thin sometimes, could be heavier on the bass.
But thats about it. Songs you can hardly ever here in this lineup besides the hall of fame concerts.
I still remember seen some of these live on TV.
Good memories!

This is a sampler of the 5 DVD box set for Released, this set gives you about two songs from a lot of the featured artists from the DVD's and that's about it. You really don't get the flavor or the message from the concerts. Nice companion piece, but I wouldn't buy it without the DVDs!

The Amnesty Human Rights Concerts are a testament to the altruistic nature of rock stars (and others) that lasted pretty much throughout the decade. Many of the artists presented are strictly 80's acts, and watching them perform is a hoot (no reason that a serious cause can't be fun too!). You will get a kick out the fashion and hairstyles. The best musical moments come from the obvious suspects (Peter Gabriel, Bruce, U2, The Police/Sting), and they are often quite stirring. Seeing U2 perform "Bad" or Gabriel perform the majestic, moving "Biko" reminds you of the power of truly great music. And if you don't smile during Bruce's epic cover of "Twist and Shout/La Bamba", then you just don't like rock and roll. These moment clearly deserve a 5-star rating. The packaging is fine and there is a nice booklet which sums up the concerts and Amnesty's work succintly. My only peeve is that with this much music, obviously not all of it is going to be great, and there are several mediocre acts to sit thru. And the bonus material will be exhaustive for even the most ardent fan of the Amnesty concerts. But if you were there for some of the shows back in the 80's like I was, this set is a fabulous time capsule to remember those shows by.

Good performances with some great songs for a good cause - only complaint is that there were other great songs that could have been on it.
