This review is from: Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils (Paperback)
I have used this book for self-healing and was amazed at how insightful the material is, how accurate the correlations are between our individual temperaments and ailments we have, and the detailed charts that show how to release pain and heal emotional wounds. I know others who have used this material successfully as well. Using essential oils on a few trigger points is an excellent way to heal deep trauma and old patterns in only a few weeks, rather than months or even years of other therapies. The only caution I would suggest is to make sure the essential oils used are of the very highest quality, organically grown, carefully processed with no additives or adulteration. As far as the issue of using oils neat, this is not a book of full body massage but putting them on acupuncture points. Some oils like Oregano or Clove might be 'hot' to use neat but I have used numerous oils neat for years with no problem at all. We all have to pay attention to our biochemistry. This book also has one of the best descriptions of kinesiology (muscle testing) I have ever seen. Everyone can always test to find out which oils work for them and how much or how often to apply them.

5.0 out of 5 stars safety with essential oils, April 29, 2002

I have read Dr. Carolyn Mein's book. In her book on page 47, she clearly states that the essential oils can be diluted with vegetable oil, and to use caution. She has also written that the oils can be used effectively with no application by smell only. This book is an excelent achievement on the emotional application of essential oils. Please don't let someones lack of competence, and understanding deter from this book, or the use of essential oils.

5.0 out of 5 stars REBUTTAL to both reviews [...], January 3, 2004

The oil sensitivity and photosensitivity issues are both addressed on page 47 of this book. Directions for dilution of oils or just smelling the oil instead of applying it are also discussed on the same page.
I found this book very valuable and helpful both on procedure and specific emotional healings as well as on progressions of healing other emotions related to emotional core issues and suggestions for writing and other clearing methods.
The author is very clear about her high regard for both Gary Young and the oils his Young Living company produces and sells.

In many ways this is a very helpful book. But also in many ways it is a very confusing book. I'm not sure where she gets her information. Is it channelled or "researched observation"? Where is the scientific data?

She has "identified 25 distinct body types," and their "quadrants," but I could not relate to any of them and I know my body pretty well and have lived long enough to see the effects of my actions on it. Put another way, I could relate to too many of them, which was not useful. Many of them sounded too similar. I also wondered why "abandonment" was listed as afflicting so many organs or body types, nine in all.

This may not be a book for the average person. Sometimes the explanations are lacking and you don't quite understand what she is saying, but wish she had written more. She offers many, many suggestions for which essential oils will help what condition. However, she refers to them in code. I've never heard of the essential oil called, "Magnify Your Purpose," or "Live With Passion." This puzzled me. And then, aha! on one of the very last pages, she deciphers these oils for the reader. Otherwise, one would have to buy them only from Young Living who uses these trade names. Be forewarned, many of these recipes are huge.
"Harmony" alone contains 17 types of oils.

If you buy this intriguing book you will not read it casually. It has too much information in it. Make up your mind that you will have to delve deeply into this subject, but rest assured the information presented will be for the most part, fully and satisfyingly helpful. For those who want to make a career out of this healing modality, this is the book for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars huge disappointment--buy it only for the charts, July 19, 2010
This review is from: Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils (Paperback)
I am a practicing energy therapist who uses many different modalities with my clients. Having used essential oils for many years for PHYSICAL healing, I desired to use this book to help me combine my energy healing techniques with the power of essential oils to provide my clients (and my family) with even more profound healing. However, I found only two helpful pieces of infomation in this book--first, the charts are WONDERFUL and second, she states that essential oils activate the limbic system of the brain where emotional patterns are stored. I found the rest of the information poorly, no, HORRIBLY organized--following no logical pattern. And the book is a poorly veiled advertisement for YL essential oils, which used to be quality oils.

I was hoping for a book that would present practical, useful, unbiased information about combining the use of essential oils with emotional clearing techniques. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT to discover that she links all her healing to special combinations that must be purchased from YL! I noticed that one reviewer mentioned a list of oils found in these special YL blends supposedly at the back of the book; my book has no such list. If the title of this book were an honest representation of its contents, it ought to include a subtitle or other phrase stating its exclusive use of Young Living oils.

If you are looking for a way to combine emotional clearing with essential oils, instead of purchasing this book, muscle test the specific emotion your client needs to clear and then muscle test if there are oils that you can use to enhance the clearing. I have found this technique very specific and effective for individual clients.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing but Disappointing Marketing of Proprietary Essential Oil Blends, July 26, 2011
This review is from: Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils (Paperback)
I am a massage therapist and incorporate aromatherapy into my practice. I thought this book would be a great reference tool but was disappointed to find that many of the oil blends the author recommends are proprietary to Young Living brand essential oils (if you go to their site you can get a list of ingredients in each blend). I, personally, have nothing against YL, but their prices are exorbitant. There are many comparable companies selling therapeutic grade oils, for less but since many of her treatment plans call for specific blends, it is hard to get around using YL. This book needs to have a disclaimer that states it exclusively promotes the use of YL blends, I would not have wasted my money that way.

Also, there wasn't much original information, regarding oils or emotions, that hasn't been covered in other books I already own. I would have done better to just take what was in the books I have and use my common sense for the rest.

(FYI: I just checked the price for sell back through Amazon and it is a 5th of what I paid for it just 3 months ago. What a waste.)

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils (Paperback)
In response to 'tina', who seems paranoid about "therapeutic grade" essential oils, I say DO YOUR HOMEWORK. It sounds as if you've used 'cheap' oils, or some from a health food store, and thats not good enough. Dr. Young has studied extensively in Europe to bring the highest quality essential oils to us using low heat and taking extra time, up to 2 hours in distillation chamber, not 15 min like many companies who want a fast buck. He cares about the oils and their effect on us as he uses them extensively on himself, his wife and their child. Why wouldn't you want to produce a product you're proud of, and constantly brings amazing testimonies from people who use them. The prices are very affordable considering it's impacting your health and very future. So many people wasting thousands of dollars on cigarettes every year, or drinking pop and eating junk food which is taking them down a very dark path in the end, here is someone who's put in the time and tremendous effort to bring a quality product, and like usual, you have someone with limited knowledge scaring others before they even get a chance to get their feet wet. There's nothing wrong whatsoever with NEAT application, I'm a nurse, and please, don't even begin to compare the horrors of vaccines in this country with Gods gift of essential oils that HEAL!!!!!!! And I'll say it again, yes, there are a few oils that should be diluted, but if you read, and study the subject, you'll know which ones they are. After all, do you just go get your Drivers License when you're 16 without ever studying for the test, without ever getting behind the wheel with a teacher first? I don't think so, and so it is with the oils. The Young Living Essential Oil Company is the one you WANT to deal with, they speak the truth. Thanks
