Biography

FJason Aldean had an easy task when he picked a name for his fifth album. One of its 15 songs, "Night Train," perfectly embodied the tone of his career.

"The train is moving," Aldean says, "and it's moving at a rapid pace." Indeed. His last project, My Kinda Party, was the top-selling country album of 2011 and the fifth-best seller across all genres for ... Read more in Amazon's Jason Aldean Store

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

On his sophomore CD, Jason Aldean, the Academy of Country Music's Top New Male Vocalist for 2006, continues to rely on a proven formula--recording several John Rich co-writes, and reprising producer Michael Knox--while pushing harder on the rocking side of his Georgia roots. A platinum-seller his first time out, he stocks the new album with songs from reliable hitmakers (Brett James, Jim Collins, Tom Shapiro) to score at radio (watch for his duet with Miranda Lambert, "Grown Woman"), but also isn't afraid to get edgy ("Back in This Cigarette," about an anguished breakup). A serviceable baritone, a hat act with pierced ears, Aldean relies on attitude when all else fails, and it works. "Johnny Cash," his rocking ode to rebellion and rebirth, is the fastest-rising single of his career. --Alanna Nash

Product Description

THE NEW ALBUM RELENTLESS now brings more of the aggressive spirit that singled him out as one of the break out artists of the last year. The first single Johnny Cash is off to a tremendous start at radio. In the first 2 weeks following the ADD date over 70% of the Country radio monitored panel was already playing it. With 3 Top 10 singles and 3 #1 charted videos at CMT Jason has knocked down the walls of the gate keepers and we are confident that the growth that has already occurred will not just be maintained but will shift into an even higher gear as this song continues to climb the charts. The goals for this release are high but when you consider that you know you have a million fans out there that have already purchased an album of Jason's music it is not a huge leap to get to the next level given all the activity that Jason brings to the table. 2007 will be a significant year for Jason Aldean and his label, Broken Bow. Any past success that has been attained is not being taken for granted and all the assets of the company are being utilized to insure that every opportunity to promote Jason and this album are being explored and capitalized on. Now he's preparing to drop his second album, a collection of songs that sustain his emphasis on relatable, recognizable lyrics while pushing into new sonic territory. The standout tracks include Laughed Until We Cried, Do You Wish It Was Me, I Break Everything I Touch and Grown Woman featuring a special guest vocalist.

4.0 out of 5 stars great sophomore effort June 6, 2007
Format:Audio CD
very good disc... not quite as good as his first, but that would have been hard to top... this guy is a great talent, great voice, great guitar work ... my biggest dissappointment was the duet with Miranda Lambert, they could have used her amazing voice much more powerfully than they did ... but all said, this should get Jason another 2 or 3 huge hits, and a few awards ... if you liked his debut, you will like this disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this guy's voice June 1, 2007
Format:Audio CD
I'm not a big country fan music lover but I have bought Shania Twain's and Tim McGraw's cd's.I never listened to Jason Aldean or ever of him but his cd was on sale so I picked it up.All I can is "WOW...I love this guy's voice".

The way he lays it on you with "Johnny Cash" and "I Use What I Got",two of my favorites on the cd.

Nice listen if you are taking a nice long drive during these summer days!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good CD July 20, 2007
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Jason Aldean has great music and this CD has some really good songs on it. I do think the music in his first CD was much better. A lot of the songs on the new CD are slow to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Could not be better! July 28, 2008
Format:Audio CD
This cd is one that you can put on and listen from beginning to end. There is not a bad song on it. I bought one copy for the car and one for my cd player inside. There is something for everyone on this cd. It has everything from the fast paced "Johnny Cash" and "I Use What I Got" to slower songs like "Grown Woman" and "Back in This Cigarette". I never get tired of hearing this cd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid June 27, 2007
By D. Dan
Format:Audio CD
Jason Aldean is definitely one of the best young artists in country music. His second album is solid, but not better than his first. Of course, it's difficult to top the last CD.

There are a lot of really good tracks on the CD including "I Use What I Got", "Cigarette", and "Laughed Until We Cried."

The first single, "Johnny Cash" is okay... it's just too manufactured for radio... it's just not a natural song, which seems to be a theme with these songs. A lot are a product of the Nashville songwriting formula.

At times, the songs sound dangerously close to Rascal Flatts, which is bad. That's not something anyone should aspire to be.

All and all, it's a solid album and I like it. He makes it work, and his voice is awesome. I just wish he wasn't touring with Rascal Flatts so I could actually see the man in concert. Good thing he'll be around for years to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars My first taste of Aldean. October 11, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I chose this album first because I loved the cover art. Here's my short play-by-play.

1. Johnny Cash - 3/5 This one is annoying to me. It is OK I guess but the repetition in the chorus isn't cool.

2. Laughed Until We Cried - 5/5 Has meaning and a great, relaxed vibe to it. The first serious song I've ever heard by him.

3. Do You Wish It Was Me? - 4.5/5 Another very, very good tune. Exactly as the title says, Jason lets us in. Mid-tempo country rock song.

4. I Use What I Got - 4.2/5 Very cool upbeat track that is somewhat filler-ish but very pleasant nonetheless.

5. Who's Kissing You Tonight? - 4.3/5 Mr. Aldean wonders who is with his ex. It kills him that they aren't doing what they used to do together anymore.

6. Relentless - 4.5/5 My favorite upbeat tune. Catchy.

7. My Memory Ain't What It Used To Be - 3.75/5 This one kinda just drones on. It's not bad but it's not that memorable.

8. No - 4/5 A pleasant song. Nothing more, nothing less.

9. Back In This Cigarette - 4.25/5 A song about the realities of not being able to go back to a relationship when it's dead. I like the bridge.

10. Grown Woman - 4.5/5 I love this song. It's dramatic and very relatable.

11. I Break Everything I Touch - 4.25/5 Good song.

12. Not Every Man Lives - 5/5 Beautiful song about how some guys just don't live life to the fullest.

Jason Aldean has a nice enough voice. At first I wasn't sure about it but I've decided that I do like it. I also really liked the majority of the songs on the album. At the same time I think it was a terrible idea to start the disc off with a horrible song like "Johnny Cash" though. That one should have been omitted from the tracklisting altogether.
