My electrician installed in with no problems.

Just feed the wires running to the electrical panel through the coils and it works great.
BotaMan
It is best to balance the load on each 120vac side of the generator winding.

If you are going to run your 10-3 w/ground (or what ever) through the watt meter box (as it is designed to be) You have to come in through the Side knockouts ONLY at the bottom area ! If you come in from the top knockout (my one mistake), than the face that holds the meters won't fit back into the box-it's not deep enough in that area. I Hope my headache helps someone else! There is a lot of conflicting installation instructions because of a lack of product instructions. Here's mine: 1) Run your 10-3 into a side knockout, left or right depending on installation location. 2) Strip outer casing (orange color on 10-3 ) off the wire once it enters the watt meter box leaving enough extra wire to connect to the main panel. 3) connect ground wire to grounding screw (that's what it's there for) in watt meter box and run it out the other side through a 3/4" offset nipple. 4)run the common wire (white ) straight through the box and out the offset nipple. 5)run L1+L2 (blk.+ red hot feeds) through the CT's (doughnuts) and straight through and out the offset nipple (wires only-not the CT's,they stay in the box). Now you have all 4 wires coming out the 3/4" offset nipple. Connect nipple to main panel box and make your final connections. VERY IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE you use a breaker interlock kit on your backfeeding breaker! VERY Important for safety sake! Anyone who sets up a backfeed without one is asking for trouble and is risking someone else's injury! If your generator backfeeds up through the service lines you could seriously injure or KILL a lineman that is working to restore power to your area! I ordered mine from Home Depot for under $50.00. I'm not an electrician but I did build new homes for over 35 years. I do know that proper grounding of all electrical equipment is HUGE to meet code ! Do It Right!Read more ›

I have purchased this unit elsewhere, it is a great addition to the circuit which allows me to review quickly the balance of wattage being used at any given time. It is best to balance the load on each 120vac side of the generator winding. You only have 1/2 the rating of the generator on each 120vac side, exp.7500 gen is rated 3750 watts per side. I believe most people buying generators don't realize this. Very nicely made, strong, easy to install, and transformers come with it. You just feed your lines through the box and slip on the transformers and your done! Highly recommend it and all Reliance Control products, very reliable and "Made In America"!

Just had a electrician install this box I could have done it myself but he was installing a backfeed line and outlet from my main breaker box for my generator. this box is really percise, I have a 7500 watt generator which powers my whole house and this box is a exact match for 7500 watts.

easy to install instructions each meter wire goes on each 100amp leg.each wire has a C clip that just hangs loose on each generator mainbreaker wire(measures load from outside each wire) do use ground wire and ground it to the main break box and make sure its no futher away from the main box than 20 inchs other wise it won't work properly. when I did a load test with generator on I turned on 1 breaker at a time some 15 amp breakers didn't even have a effect on this meter.once I got into the 20 amp breakers\appliances frig etc thats when you see this amp meter really start to go to work. if your doing a interlock with a backfeed and outlet only you really should buy this box its so helpful so you don't over load youre generator.im not a company or salesman or a doomsday preeper lol I just like having heat whens its below 30 outside and we have a outage.

I also had the electrician put in the reliance POWERBACK alarm so I know when street power comes back.the powerback alarm is made by Reliance also and is about the same price as this box. its worth the couple extra bucks because with the price of gas you could be back on street power and not know and be wasting alot of gas.

I wired my thru the side, only I spliced my transformer wires and added about three feet of 20awg 300v hookup wire, and ran the transformer wires thru 1/2" flexable pvc conduit into my circuit breaker panel, also ran 10awg 600v 30amp ground wire from MB75 box thru same 1/2" conduit and grounded it to neutral/ground bar inside circuit breaker panel. The reason I didn`t run the 10/4 generator wire thru the MB75 is that I didn`t have enough slack in my 10/4 wire to do so,not to mention I would have had to run more conduit.Had to add more transformer wire, because my electrical panel is inside my wall, bought 20awg 300v hookup wire at my local radio shack,75' for 10 bucks.By splicing the transformer wires it should only throw off the watt meter by a .5 to 1.0 watt, which is not enough to hurt anything for what I`m wanting to do,which is to divide 5500 continious watts, and 6750 starting watts. Can be wired either way,by running generator wires thru MB75 box,or running transformer wires into circuit breaker box, either way will work.Hope this helps.

Easy to wire in to a power generator panel. Has to be installed at eye level so you can observe the two meters when your trying to balance out the load. A must have item to load your generator the right way.
