Book Description

January 1, 2007
Tormented by his wife's apparent demise, Edmund Merrick sails away to drown his sorrows-only to find himself trapped in the dark world of a demented Frenchman. When his mind clears from its rum-induced haze, will Edmund find the will to escape? Seemingly abandoned by her husband, Charlisse is thrown into the clutches of the vengeful pirate Kent. Will she be swept away by the undertow of treachery and despair? Can Edmund and Charlisse steer their way to the faith-filled haven they so desperately seek, or will they ultimately lose their love and lives to the sea?

Editorial Reviews

Review

Self-reliance is contrasted with reliance on God, and Tyndall demonstrates which choice is the most beneficial.  The Reliance is a lively and fulfilling follow-up to the histories of the characters in The Redemption, also ending the author''s journey with her beloved couple and preparing the faithful reader for the storyline of her final volume in the Legacy of the King''s Pirates trilogy.

More About the Author

Acclaimed author, M.L. (MaryLu) Tyndall dreamt of pirates and sea-faring adventures during her childhood days on Florida's Coast. After obtaining a degree in Math and working as software engineer for 15 years, she decided to test the waters as a writer. With now more than ten books published, she makes no excuses for the deeply spiritual themes embedded within her romantic adventures. As a follower of Christ, her stories often reflect her own journey and walk with God. Her hope is that readers will not only be entertained but will be brought closer to the Creator who loves them beyond measure. In a culture that accepts the occult, wizards, zombies, and vampires without batting an eye, MaryLu hopes to show the awesome present and powerful acts of God in a dying world. A Christy award nominee, MaryLu makes her home with her husband, six children, and four cats on the California coast, where her imagination still surges with the sea.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Terrific Sequel!, December 18, 2006
MaryLu Tyndall has done it - written a sequel which is, if possible, even better than the original (The Redemption)! We follow Merrick and Charlisse, now married, as they encounter the depths of sorrow. And then, when their lives hit bottom, we watch them grow and change as their faith and personal strength begins to win out over circumstances and those who would harm them. I love these characters and, like me, I know you won't be able to put this book down. It's a must-read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great adventure, December 21, 2006
By
Years after their rocky start, Charlisse and Captain Merrick are blissfully married, but when an old rival sets his sights to hurt them both, everything they value is questioned.

Chaos ensues when Merrick thinks Charlisse has been killed. His old numbing ways beckon him to return to oblivion. Meanwhile, Charlisse is trapped in the possession of her worst enemy.

The Reliance is a story of crises of faith. How does one respond when all is lost? Is there a point when there is no hope left? When great misunderstanding transpires, can love and trust sustain them?

Book Two of The Legacy of the King's Pirates Series is even more gripping than the first. Full of captured ladies and scoundrels as well as good-hearted men gone wrong, there is something in this book for everyone. Whether you seek romance, adventure or the turning of hearts, you'll find it here. Besides, who doesn't need a vacation to the Caribbean?

Armchair Interviews says: A Caribbean pirate adventure with something for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Written Series, April 21, 2008
This review is from: The Reliance (Legacy of the King's Pirates, Book 2) (Truly Yours Romance Club #7) (Paperback)
I have read books one and two in the Legacy of the King's Pirates series and half of the third. I can't put them down. I really wasn't sure if I would like the series or not, but they are awesome. I would highly recommend these books to both Christian Fiction lovers and pirate lovers.
