Great for camping!!,

We purchased this porta potty which my family of 6 absolutley loves. It was a great asset to our tent when the kids were little and camping. No midnight trips to the bathroom not knowing who or what you would run into in the middle of the night. Plus you never had to leave your warm tent. It seems to me that public camp and park restrooms get pretty dirty as the day passes. We now have an RV, but we still take it along for "number 2" visits to the potty! My wife weighs about 325 pounds and it holds up great. It is also easy to clean! everything empties into a disposable bag which is tied up and thrown away. Bags are reasonably priced. We tried to get everyone to use the bag before we empty it.
While traveling to our destination we keep it handy in case someone needs to use the bathroom. Much cleaner than any public bathroom I have ever been in! It is somewhat low to the ground as the previous person stated, but it is no lower than the rest of the models...We tried all of them out at the store before purchasing this one. The models that are $100+ are a bit higher, but not worth that much money!

Reliance Hassock Toilet - The picture on the website is incorrect. Purchased this portable toilet five months ago and it has served me well. This toilet looks like a round ice chest and has a seperate bucket that drops into. It has a plastic toilet seat the fits fairly well over the top along with a flat piece that goes over the seat that holds the toilet paper. Along with the above it has a well fitting lid that covers all the above and keeps the smells inside. This was one of the attractions. First I didn't want people to walk into my room and see a porta potty, secondly with the lid there is no smells (disinfectant or otherwise). I moved into a detached room at my elderly parents house and there is no built in bathroom for those midnight emergencies. Instead of having to treak outside, unlock the door, possibly wake the folks up etc, this toilet serves its purpose. I use Lysol 4 in 1 as a neutralizer and it works well. Other products were too strong and the toilet product is too expensive unless you are using occasionally. When cleaning you just take off the lid, lift up the plastic seat and pull the very sturdy bucket out, take it to the toilet and clean. I can't image using this on a camping trip if you were hiking and had to carry it around. It would splash around inside but if you are staying at a camp site and need a porta potty for those midnight urges it will definitely suit your purposes. Check other websites for a picture.

The Hassock toilet is a modest improvement over buying a simple snap-on toilet seat for the common 5-gallon bucket, but at 3x the price, it isn't much of a bargain. The design could easily be improved upon for modest increase in cost. That said, the next step in portable toilet comfort is going to be in the $80-100 range.
My impression is that the Hassock toilet was designed to work with accessory products by Reliance; rather than actually fit the human body. This is wrong and the manufacturer needs to look into this. I found this toilet to be extremely uncomfortable due to its low height (about 14 inches or 350mm). Most conventional toilet seats and chairs are around 20' or 400mm in height. The height issue can be addressed by putting the unit up on blocks, but it seems silly to have to do this. If you are using a low height camper shell; the lower height might work out well. Other portable toilets in this category (including the Luggable Loo by the same manufacturer), are based on the common 5-gallon bucket, but this model uses a shorter (read: less capacity) bucket. Had Reliance built this toilet around a typical 5-gallon bucket, it would have put the seat at a much more comfortable height and the extra 2-4 inches (25-50mm) would not have added much to the weight, or cost of the unit either. Another issue is the actual seat is a bit flimsy in construction, and does not lock down securely.

emergency toilet,

I bought this to add to my earthquake preparedness supplies. For that purpose is is too bulky and does not have storage space inside for much. It would probably work fine as a camping toilet but for my purpose a 5 gallon plastic bucket with a snap on seat takes up less storage room and can store other sanitary supplies.

We bought it on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of a toilet replacement project gone bad. It improved our tempers and our concentration! We now keep it in the greenhouse as our emergency toilet (4 people one, bathroom). Our neighbors also borrowed it when their sewer pipe got plugged.
Its really nice to have a lid and the TP right there. It also feels secure, unlike a toilet seat on legs that I've used. And its way more comfortable than the 5 gallon buckets I've used in the past. A good purchase.

I guess we should have looked more into this product. It is very small and hard to "fit" your stuff into (if you know what I mean). My wife didn't have any problems using it, but she is only 5'2". I am 5'11" and squatting down to use this thing is quite uncomfortable. As far as the construction of it, what can I say? It's plastic. It will hold you and not fall over.
It's pretty lightweight and it's nice to have a place to hold your toilet paper roll. We use this on camping trips (tent camping). We had a small 2 person tent we were going to use as the "restroom". The tent was way too small to use 'cuz if you were squatting down in there you were hunched over so much that it was too uncomfortable. Not the toilets fault I know, but if you plan on having a separate area to use this, I suggest one of those tee-pee type tents where you can stand. Overall, it serves its purpose. For men, if you've got to go No. 1, find a tree. If you've got to go No. 2, good luck. Hopefully you won't be making a mess (go No.1 first, standing up, then No.2 sitting down). Yeah, a bit of a pain, but necessary if you don't want to make a mess.

Two days before vacation at our camp, we found out that a tree had fallen on the outhouse; we would've been 'high and (not) dry' without the Hassock! Thanks to Amazon and their Prime 2-day shipping, we were saved. The product worked great, outside during the day and inside at night. Although the guys don't mind using the woods for quick relief, all of us appreciated this sit-down version preempting the dig and bury, no white flags routine.... Read the other reviews for tips on disposal and choose what works best for your group. We used the cat litter. One caveat: one reviewer claimed that his 300+ lbs. wife could use the Hassock Lightweight with confidence; I don't think so! No one in our party was over 250, and the big guys used with caution.

Used this in our new "shower tent" at the Wannee music festival. A tad low, so my husband made a slightly raised platform. Talk about comfort, convenience, privacy, and no waiting in line. Worked so great, that my daughter hijacked the whole set-up to Bonneroo.

Very Cheap the seat would slip off when you were sitting down. All it is is a bucket inside a bucket. Works for the outdoors if you don't want to use the restroom outside and worked for what I needed it to. Make sure to put a trash bag in the inner bucket to make it clean up easier. I also threw in a dog training pad before I pulled it out to absorb any liquid. Also if its hot outs side the condensation will get on the seat have something to wipe it off.
