5.0 out of 5 stars Syd Barrett, RIP
Syd Barrett will be greatly missed. His whimsical songwriting style was unique and greatly influenced many famous musicians like David Bowie. This cd is an essential purchase for those wishing a taste of genius.

3.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Disappointed
I would give this album a five, but unfortunately, whoever remastered this, has butchered (as in chopped) the ends off of several songs (Interstellar Overdrive, Biding My Time and more, seconds I deem important), and the beginning of others (most noticeably Julia Dream). The remastering sounds flatter than my LP and tape of Relics (without the added tracks), and more hiss...

3.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Disappointed, January 24, 2005

I would give this album a five, but unfortunately, whoever remastered this, has butchered (as in chopped) the ends off of several songs (Interstellar Overdrive, Biding My Time and more, seconds I deem important), and the beginning of others (most noticeably Julia Dream). The remastering sounds flatter than my LP and tape of Relics (without the added tracks), and more hiss has been introduced to boot. I think this may be the worst "remaster" done. At least the worst I've heard. It really is a shame. Look to other/earlier releases for quality. Peace.

3.0 out of 5 stars Find 'The Early Singles' CD Instead - Much Better Sound, November 28, 2005
This review is from: Relics (Audio CD)
I would rate this 4 stars for the songs, although it's something of a hodgepodge, but the audio quality could be better. There are several audio dropoffs, similar to those on the stereo 'Piper' CD. The packaging is also pretty skimpy. The Japanese reissue/remaster doesn't seem to be much of an improvement, audio-wise. If you're interested in the early-Floyd, try finding the mono versions of their recordings - the mono 'Piper' CD and the 10-track 'The Early Singles' CD (issued as a bonus disc with the 'Shine On' box set). For some reason they sound much better than the stereo CDs. The packaging and song sequencing are also much better on 'The Early Singles' than on 'Relics.' If you can't find those CDs, look for '1967 The First 3 Singles' which only has 6 tracks (A & B sides from their first 3 singles) but sounds and looks great.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Psychedelic Man, April 2, 2005
This review is from: Relics (Audio CD)
I own this album on the original 1971 Starline vinyl. I was captivated, and still am, by Pink Floyd's music, and this album was my introduction to the band. My favorites on the album are: Julia Dream and Cirrus Minor (pop on the headphones and just sink into these two songs). Careful With That Axe, Eugene and biding my time are also excellent (check out the live, Careful With That Axe, Eugene on Ummagumma. You can listen to the music if you go to the 'blue cover' Relics in the Pink Floyd section.

You can't compare Relics to albums like to Dark Side Of The Moon, or The Wall, but it's just wonderful late 60's Floyd and remains on my list of favorites. I haven't heard the sound quality of this remaster, but one reviewer says it's awful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relics, December 1, 2003

I would recommend this cd for all Pink Floyd fans, and anyone thas just getting into Pink Floyd.
I feel as if this is a collectors cd because it has " relics"
on it from different Floyd era's.
I think anyone would be satified with ordering this cd. This was actually the second Pink Floyd cd that I ever owned. Dark side of the moon being first of course. When I heard Relics, I just wanted to go out and get every cd that Pink Floyd ever made!
I highly recommend it!

I'm no real fan of Pink Floyd, but at least they didn't have to flash their beef curtains to sell records, unlike a certain has-been named Damita Jo.
