This review is from: Relief of Derry (Audio CD)
Brilliant contemporary classical music. A wonderful performance skillfully performed.
If you are tired of listening to the same old classics by dead composers, try this. As good if not better than any composer dead or alive.

Unforgetable Musical Portrait of 1689 Seige of Derry, Ireland,

This review is from: The Relief of Derry Symphony (Audio CD)
The Relief of Derry Symphony commissioned by the Derry City Council and recorded live by the Ulster Orchestra at the Derry Guildhall is an incredible and unforgetable musical experience. Commissioned to celebrate the Tercentenary of the Siege of Derry, the composer Shaun Davey paints an extraordinary picture of the 105 day seige in 1689. One need not know the actual history of the seige to visualize the events portrayed. This recording is a must for anyone who enjoys Aaron Copeland's Fanfare for a Modern Man or Tchiachovsky's 1812 Symphony.
