The book covers many examples of relief carving and lettering not found in other books of its type. The section on wood engraving and use of the v-tool is particularly interesting. There are challenging projects included, but step by step plans do not accompany some of them. The book is not for beginners. Mr. Norbury covers not only a wide range of skills but uses varied subjects as well.

Ian Norbury is such a talent it is a blight on us all he is not a household name. This book goes over all aspects of relief carving in an imformative and useful manner. You may be distracted by the photos of some genius level carvings but be strong and do not dwell on these. Keep reading , learning and turning the pages; you will not be dissapointed.
