A Fresh Translation of Canaanite Religious texts,
By A Customer
This review is from: Religious Texts from Ugarit: The Words of Ilimilku and His Colleagues (The Biblical Seminar, 53) (Paperback)
Dr. Wyatt has produced an excellent collection of translations of the major religious texts from Ugarit, the major Late Bronze Age Canaanite city situated on the Northern Coast of Syria. These texts, which are of extreme importance to all studying the ancient near east, biblical studies, comparative religion etc., have been available over the years in various, though not always accessable and updated versions. In this volume, these texts are offered with an up-to-date translation and discussion. This book is highly recommended for all who wish to have at a handy and updated version of these important texts.

Ridiculously priced item,
By Geronimo (Tampa, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Religious Texts from Ugarit (Biblical Seminar) (Paperback)
There's no reason this book should be priced this high ($249). I hope nobody does business with this seller: BOOKSTORES12. This is a paperback book. It sells at CBD, Alibris and elsewhere for $79.00. And these are just two stores I picked at random. Even $79.00 is too pricey in my opinion. But $249 is absolutely absurd. Sellers like BOOKSTORES12 have encouraged me always to shop around before buying a book on Amazon. In many cases I can find far better deals.
This is a great book by the way. It's probably got the most extensive collection of texts available in English translation. Copious notes to boot. Not bilingual though. |
