Fabulous overview of world religion
This book is broken into 10 chapters, each representing a major religious tradition. The chapters are well written, and by major researchers in that particular field. They give plenty of information, but in a way easy to comprehend. Each section has a glossary of terms, as well as many illustrations. This is a wonderful book for people who want one book as a reference...

Good Reference, O.K. Read
This book offers a wealth of information and, as the previous reviewer says, each chapter is indeed written by a specialist from that field. Good Reference, O.K. Read, March 17, 2010
This review is from: Religious Traditions of the World: A Journey Through Africa, Mesoamerica, North America, Judaism, Christianity, Isl (Hardcover)
This book offers a wealth of information and, as the previous reviewer says, each chapter is indeed written by a specialist from that field. However, I would stress that this book functions best as a reference rather than casual reading. Even ignoring how absolutely huge and awkward the book is to read anywhere but at a desk, much of the material is rather dry and informational. For an excellent text on world religions that is more accessible and a smoother read, try Huston Smith's "The World's Religions" (previously "The Religions of Man").
