1.0 out of 5 stars Tedious read, April 24, 2010
This review is from: The Reluctant Cyprian (Paperback)
Captain Nicholas Stafford wants to inherit his Uncle's title to impress and win the hand of Miss Vernon. Also in the running to inherit is his cousin, Oliver. Nicholas is determined to discredit Oliver's upstanding character by compromising Oliver with Juliet -- whom he mistakenly believes is a cyprian.

This was a tedious read. Through the whole book one keeps waiting for Juliet to clear up the misconception but, gee, the timing is never right or, what's the point. The hero and heroine are both unappealing and waspish characters. And, what kind of hero wants to destroy another man's good reputation?! His character as a hero was totally lacking. I was satisfied only at the end when H/H went off together thereby saving 2 other people from their attentions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love was not part of the Bargain, March 31, 2001

This review is from: The Reluctant Cyprian (Paperback)
It was a case of mistaken identity when dashing Nicholas Stafford ask Miss Juliet Brandon to be a lady of the evening. But Juliet was not in a position to enlighten him because she was down to her last farthings in the cruel city of London. Besides, the elegant Lord Stafford did not demand her favors for himself. He merely wished her to lead his virtuous half-brother, Sir Oliver Crane, astray. I didn't care for this book as much as I did Diana Campbell other books. Didn't hold my interest as well.
