Just the truth....,
By Paula Parker (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Reluctant Healer (Paperback)
In the RELUCTANT HEALER David Elliott helps you cut through the fog and reach the truth. Using the healing techniques offered here, you will be able unravel the truth about who you are and where you are going. There is no fluff or filler here, only honest straight talk and effective healing methods. The truth is you are a healer and there is work to be done to unearth your core. With humanity and caring David Elliott has plainly and simply laid out the steps you can take to uncover the truth about yourself.
While using the methods in this book as a guide I have reached achievements I once thought unattainable. I look forward to seeing how much is possible.

I read this book on the recommendation of a friend, teacher and coach during a time when I was off studying about my own spirituality.
I was worried at first that this book would be too much overload on an otherwise throbbing mind and psyche, but it wasn't. It was thoughtful, insightful and invited me into the life Elliott leads. Sure, it's about him -- there's nothing that proclaims otherwise! And that's what I wanted to know -- how does this life come about? This healing work? And how do you fit it into your own everyday perception of yourself? And the perception others have of you? More importantly -- does that perception matter? This book truly helped me on this journey of mine and I'm glad it's in my library!

A journey worth taking,
By
This review is from: The Reluctant Healer (Paperback)
David Elliott's book was a profound journey. From the moment I picked it up I was pulled in, exploring things in my life in a way I never had. I was able to clearly see and understand how I had reached the place I had without blame or regret. From that clarity I used David Elliott's suggestions to map out my future. In the few short months since reading the book I have found that whole new opportunities have opened up for me in directions I never imagined myself taking. I have such freedom with myself and all situations I find myself in. This book is definitely worth reading

Healing Breath,
This review is from: The Reluctant Healer: Breathing Meditation (Audio CD)
I am 61 years old and learned the pranayama yoga breathing techniqe from David Elliott at a workshop in the fall of 2005. I was facing surgery and my blood pressure had been elevated for several months. After using the CD for only a few days my blood pressure went down to 115/75 - my doctor was incredulous. David teaches people to heal themselves by simply breathing. He describes this technique in a way anyone can understand on this CD - the idea is to get away from all the constant chatter in our heads. I use this CD at least once a day. The flute in the background and the guided meditation leave me refreshed, focused, and calm. I stop rushing and life is back in proper perspective. The flute music continues after the meditation ends.

Finding Inner Peace,
By
This review is from: The Reluctant Healer (Paperback)
As I read this book I keenly felt my responsibility to look deeper and harder at who I really am and why we are here. Mr. Elliott's insight into the human mind and emotions has found a remarkable expression through his own personal journey, as well as through many others who have benefited from his gift. The breathing work has opened my heart and mind to a depth of joy and love I had yet to experience. The author captures the profound truth that all human beings have an innate desire to learn and grow, and he gives us the tools to do the work.

This review is from: The Reluctant Healer (Paperback)
Finally, a book that helps one understand and pursue personal growth in a straightforward, easy to understand manner. Supplementing David Elliott's accessible yet soulful prose are clear exercises that anyone can do to develop their own healing gifts, and in the process find profound inner peace. Refreshingly absent of so much of the dogmatic and obtuse theory that bogs down many of these kinds of books, I have already experienced many positive changes in my life from practicing the work David so plainly lays out in this text!

How I changed my life,
By
This review is from: The Reluctant Healer: Breathing Meditation (Audio CD)
A friend loaned me David Elliots breathing meditation. My previous attempts with meditation never seemed to do anything but put me to sleep. With some instruction from my friend I gave it a go. If you do the two stage breathing method properly you will not believe what happens to you. I never had an experience like it. It is hard to explain. Its like climbing a mountain you have to do it to experience the results.
