5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, Bad execution on Amazon.com's part
This is pretty much the gold standard of bicycle tube patching and this is my first foray into using it.

If you have been frustrated in the past with patches that get funky over time in your bike bag, or if your patches do not always hold, you will probably like these patches. The box is rigid plastic that holds up well in a bike bag.

2.0 out of 5 stars 36/box means what?
It's distinctly possible that this misinterpretation is somehow due to my ignorance. However, I read 36/box to mean that this patch kit would contain 36 patches. In fact, what you see in the image is what you get (5 patches, 1 tube of cement, 1 piece of sand paper). I don't know why they chose to include 2 boxes in the image, but whatever. I used the patches, they...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very misleading, April 12, 2010

The picture clearly shows two patch kits. The price reflects two patch kits. This is the best patch kit on the market, but this price is a rip-off and the listing/picture is very misleading. what you get is NOT what is in the picture, as you only get ONE box. Very unsatisfied with Amazon for their misleading visual description. Unfortunately, the size of this purchase doesn't really warrant going through the trouble of returning it.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING!!! Only 1 kit, not 2!, December 20, 2010

Should have read the other reviews. The picture and title are misleading. The picture shows tow kits and the title also says "kits". I falsely assumed it was two kits due to the price as well. One kit for over $6 is a ripoff, regardless of free shipping. Someone at Amazon should be paying attention to these reviews...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, Bad execution on Amazon.com's part, September 14, 2010

The patches themselves are thick enough for most of the area to keep the bond with the tire and they taper down to a very thin scalloped edge that fuzed very nicely with the tube and is unlikely to get pulled up by anything.

However, someone goofed at Amazon.com.

Amazon.com does generally include a built-in charge to cover the "free shipping," but they over did it in this case.

My suspicion is that the person who set the pricing and the picture intended to ship 2 boxes (although the description does not say "2 boxes" it does use the word Kits rather than Kit) because the price is about right for 2 boxes ($3) plus a minor built-in charge ($2) to cover the "free shipping".

A word about vulcanizing fluid. I found a lot of discussion out there (without much support) as to how much Rema's $10 formula differs from Elmer's $2 Rubber Cement I had been using all these years. Then I read, "If you use Elmer's, you will find that, one month later, you can pull the patch off, but with the TipTop vulcanizing fluid, you cannot". However it was stated in a fashion that led me to believe that he did not actually test that theory. So I decided to try.

I got a flat 4 days ago and I used one of these patches. Since I was at home and in order to keep it fresh for when needed on the road, I did not want to break the seal on the small tube that came with the kit, so I used my 6mo old can of Elmer's.

Result? After 80 miles, the patch certainly looked chemically fuzed to the tube and it took a lot of effort to get an edge up (a LOT more effort than my patches of the past), however I WAS able to separate it from the tire as if there never was a patch, so it did not truly become one with the rubber of the tube, but the entire patch and especially the all important edges DID look like no air would ever escape. I only removed a small portion of the patch... I will wait a month before I pull the rest of the patch off to see if anything changes with time.

I will post more information the next time I actually decide to break the seal on the tube that came with the patch kit (or buy a bottle of it). Chances are I will have another flat within the next 12 months and I will have no problem re-patching it again with my still fresh tube just to test this theory.

4.0 out of 5 stars Patch kit, April 28, 2010
This review is from: Rema Standard Patch Kits, #21 (Sports)
Another reviewer complains that the picture is misleading, and that the patch kit is overpriced. This complaint is true. I would add, though, that this item is shipped by Amazon, and is eligible for free super saver shipping (if purchased with other items for a total of a 25 dollar order). Other patch kits on the site are cheaper, but generally have shipping charges that will take them up close to the same price. Anyway, this is a good brand, and the patches work well.

Inexpensive, good quality, easy to use. I had to use this for a nail puncture a few days after I received it (talk about good timing)and was not disappointed.

Not sure what other reviewers revived but I received a box of 36 patch kits for a total of 180 patches. Good buy in my opinion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading picture!, September 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rema Standard Patch Kits, #21 (Sports)
The picture show 2 patch kits but the price is for a single kit; hence the 1 star rating. However, I'll give 5 stars for the quality of patch kit, as there is no better kit on the market. The Amazon advertisement is especially misleading because the price is approximately twice the typical price for a Rema patch kit. I probably should have read reviews before purchasing - I wouldn't have had this problem. However, I know and trust Rema kits like no other patch kits so didn't need to read other's opinions. I didn't think Amazon would be so misleading and it is especially surprising that they haven't changed their picture in light of the numerous complaints on this issue.
