5.0 out of 5 stars One listen and you're HOOKED - An introduction to Tyrone Wells:, May 24, 2009

Some years before Tyrone was signed, I was introduced by Pandora to one of those songs that pushes your shoulders back with both arms, shuts your eyes for you, and delivers chills followed by addiction. The voice poured unexpectedly from my headphones: When All Is Said and Done. An artist I'd never heard of, "Tyrone Wells", was the culprit, and his diverse work fuses the the "contemporary folk of Ray LaMontagne with the soul of a D'Angelo unbound by vocal range. Tyrone finds his lyrics and songwriting from an untarnished soul, and watching him perform you can see an energy transform him. It's an experience.

His range oscillates from angelic to thick and tobacco-throated, and, in my view has no equal in this genre. As an audiophile I was instantly HOOKED, and immediately compelled to spend hours pulling together every available song of his. Then, by coincidence, his band came to our small beach hamlet in Santa Barbara!

I absolutely had to meet him, and somehow persuaded both Tyrone and his lovely wife Elina to dinner with a cadre of new Tyrone evangelist friends of mine. Sitting at a long table at Arigato, a 6+ foot, shaved-headed white dude strode in with his beautiful wife Elina in tow. Imposing, as though on sabbatical from a magazine cover, the two couldn't be kinder, more gentle and curious, or less rockstar'sh; instead, we drank sake, traded stories, and had a blast.

Anyhow we immediately became friends, and every now and then him and his band (led by Mark Chippello) visit my girlfriend and I at our home (in Austin now) while on tour. This Wednesday will be for second time this year and we can't wait. Enjoy him before the world gets a hold of him. Though even then, as evidenced by his last sold-out concert where a couple from San Antonio drove up to Austin to see his show, couldn't get in, and when Tyrone heard of their disappointment, he grabbed his guitar, walked straight out back, and personally played Sea Breeze for the two of them! If there's anyone humble enough to not let this go to his head, it's Tyrone. He's as real as they get, and his music has caused me and my friends so much happiness, I hope it does the same for you and yours!

This is Tyrone's best album to date. The production is beyond anything he's released. My favorite songs are "More," "Remain," "Sink or Swim" and "In Between The Lines." I'm so excited to have new music from Tyrone.

Tyrone's newest album will be an amazing experience for new fans and old friends alike. He has continued to grow as a musician while maintaining his unique and distinct sound. "Sink or Swim" is my favorite track followed by "Remain," More," and "All Broken Hearts" but there isn't a single song to skip over! Buy one for yourself and a friend too, because that's how much you'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars More!, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Remain (MP3 Download)
Tyrone Wells, Mike Kopolus, Aaron Bishop, and Mark Chipello really do give us more in this fantastic album. Tyrone has a talent for writing and performing music that reaches into the soul of his listeners. He says that he believes in his music, in what he's singing and it shows. This is his best album to date, though I'd recommend it even if only because he's a talented lyricists who has managed to put the phrase "kamikaze airplanes in the sky" into a love song.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Valentine's Day Gift!, January 29, 2009
This review is from: Remain (Audio CD)
Tyrone Wells' latest creation has been released just in time to become that perfect gift to give to your favorite sweetheart. The album "Remain" will compliment any gifts of flowers and chocolates and might even be sweeter than those chocolates! The first tract, "Remain," gives a glimpse into the devotion of the heart and reminds the listener that no matter what, love will remain. Other tracts on the album are just as great. From the song "Sink or Swim," with a couple's love either surviving or not, to the gorgeous ballad "This is Beautiful," depicting the simplicity of how it is to fall in love...this album has it all and will leave the listening yearning for more. Tyrone delivers and offers up other amazing tracts that make a devoted fan want to share the wonder of his music with everyone while at the same time wanting to hide the greatness of his ability away to horde for themselves. If Tyrone's intention was to inspire people to feel love, to be in love, to love life and to realize the beauty of a melody...then his job is done.

Don't pass up this album. It's worth it and you won't be disappointed!!!!

The whole album is great! Its exactly what you expect from Tyrone Wells. If you have heard any of his old CD's...Snap Shot & Hold On then you wont be disappointed with this new one. And if you like this CD, then check out the other two cd's....Wondering Where You Are, Need, No Good Without You and Falling are some of my favorites.

Remain- To be left after the removal, loss, destruction, etc., of all else [Dictionary.com]

I was searching for the right words to say that could express my overall feeling of this album and while I searched and searched I came across the above definition that I feel is an accurate representation. From the title track "Remain" until the ending track "Together" you are taken through the journey of life. Through the joys, the pains, the questioning and the longing for something "More," no stone is left unturned.

When a singer sings from their heart, you know it. When they've lived the words that they sing, they show it. And when you can relate to them because you are experiencing similar occurrences in your life you are grateful to know that you are not alone and that you now have something to help you make it through those rough times.

Aside from the fact that Tyrone has an awesome voice that could sing about anything and have you believe it and buy into it, he uses his voice as a tool to encourage and inspire others. The song "More" is featured on the promo for the new season of Intervention and has had life changing impacts on the lives of its listeners. Reminding us that there so much more for us to live for, this song has literally saved peoples lives.

Though this album is more pop/rock than some of his previous more soulful releases, every now and again you get a glimpse of the soul that is deeply rooted within him. With a voice so strong and diverse he is able to cross into different genres of music with an ease and sincerity that everyone can enjoy.

My favorite tracks are "Remain", "More", "Losing Ground", "In Between the Lines", "Along the Way" and "Enough." I think that speaks very highly when my favorite tracks make-up half of the album. Not to diminish anything else on the record, these are just the ones that I love to play over and over.

I had the pleasure of personally speaking with him this past weekend. You can check out my exclusive interview with him at www.kstw.com/thebeat

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Tyrone album to date!, December 18, 2008
By
This review is from: Remain (MP3 Download)
I absolutely love this album. I heard Tyrone perform many of these songs live at the Aladdin in Portland a few months ago and I have been dying to get my hands on the album ever since. The musicianship and production quality are top notch as with Tyrone's previous album "Hold On".

Tyrone's songwriting ability is what gives 'Remain' its appeal and makes it shine. The lyrics he's written for the songs on this album very good and are quite spiritual. In the past he's sung a lot about love and romance, but with this album he goes deeper. Favorite tracks are 'More' and 'Sink or Swim'.

Highly recommended for Tyrone fans, but if you're new to Tyrone Wells this album won't provide a good understanding of his past work and you may want to check out either 'Hold On' or 'Snapshot' as well.

I heard the song "More" on the TV promos for the new season of "Intervention" on A&E and had to find out who sang the song. I searched on Google and found out about Tyrone Wells, bought the one song, then listened to the rest of his new album... wow! I bought the whole thing! I rarely ever buy the whole album, however this one is worth every penny- I hooked. Great lyrics, and he has an amazing voice. I'm going to check out his entire collection. You will enjoy this album

5.0 out of 5 stars Tyrone Wells Remain, March 15, 2009
This review is from: Remain (Audio CD)
We all know how things work in the music industry. Music careers are sometimes as good as your entertainment attorney. There are a slew of extremely talented artists that are never recognized and the no-talents who are shoved down our throats everyday. Just turn on the radio...it's all about ratings, and how much money the label is going to make. Maybe we just get so desensitized...maybe we accept what we listen to because it just becomes so familiar...can we all be that brainless?

But once in a while, someone worth listening to gets through. Alas, we have Tyrone Wells, a truly talented artist and musician. I'll admit it, I jumped on board just recently, but better late than never. I wish him and the band all the commercial success he can endure. No doubt Tyrone will handle the earned success with modesty and class. The recognition is well deserved. His latest release "Remain" has appeal to a number of music genres.

It is apparent Tyrone Wells is genuine and true to his music. His music is guttural. I applaud and thank the artists that breakthrough from the norm. Every track on "'Remain" has the ability to go "top ten". There's almost a part of me that wants him to be our little secret. But Tyrone should have his just due. Spread the word...Tyrone Wells is someone worth listening to. I encourage you to buy his CD...he doesn't disappoint...you will be singing the lyrics in the car, in the shower etc...
