5.0 out of 5 stars Great, great stuff
All Alkaline Trio is good. However, b-side and misc collections, by their very nature, can be hit-and-miss. Not so with Remains! Despite the horrid cover art, the music within is some of the best stuff Alkaline Trio has done. Worth buying JUST for the cover of Berlin's "Riding on the Metro". Amazing.

3.0 out of 5 stars eh...
if you MUST own everything alkaline trio or are new to them and have not heard a lot of older stuff, then i would say get this cd. otherwise, theres a song or two i never heard before but the other stuff didnt seem that rare (for instance their split material they threw on here). And the DVD is entertaining but is about a weak 30 minutes long. It definitely is not a full...

5.0 out of 5 stars If you have to own one of their cd's...., February 9, 2008
This review is from: Remains (Bonus Dvd) (Dig) (Audio CD)
Make it this one. The only real problem I had with it is that they decided to include the Split version of Sadie even though they produced another version of it for Crimson, but they held out on Over at the Frankenstein place. Even still, if you don't have Crimson, Sadie is one of the bands best songs, and throw in Hell Yes, Queen of Pain, Dead End Road, Hating Every Minute, Jaked on Green Beers, Metro, We Can Never Break Up, and Warbrain you have some of their finest songs.

Also, on the booklet that comes with the CD, Matt Skiba says that "We Can Never Break Up" is the song that represents what the band is all about, and having heard all their CD's, I think that is true and this CD represents what they are all about better than any other. Great for hardcore fans, but even better for those unfamiliar with the band.

not so much. What could've been a wonderfully put together DVD is nothing but a clip show with no menu. Go figure? The CD, however, is awesome. I've had it in my car's CD player for 2 months now and I don't look to stop listening to it anytime soon. "Metro", "Dead End Road", "Old School Reasons", Don't Say You Won't", "Hell Yes", and "Rooftops" play in my head like my brain is the iTunes shuffle. Other great tracks on here too. For any Trio fan, it's a must have. For any music fan who wants to give a new band a shot, look no further than this compilation of B-sides and rarities.

I really enjoyed this cd. I bought this while in Iraq and am glad I did! If you are looking for a cd to 'test' out then this should be a good choice for you!

This album contains Alkaline Trio's best songs. This one hasnt left my car since I got it...all the songs are just too damn good.

Best Songs:
-Dead End Road
-Jaked on Green Beers
-Old School Reasons
-Queen of Pain
-Warbrain
-Buried

They're all really good. This is Alkaline Trio at their finest. Someone earlier mentioned another group of songs...hopefully there'll be more Remains in the future.

I agree with some of the previous reviews that many songs are not new but there are plenty that are and the ones that I had previously heard happened to be some of my favorites so no harm, no foul for me. I am a 43 year old original punk and discoved this band three years ago and I have to admit they have become my favorite. My 13 year old loves the album also, he loves Metro, which is my least favorite since it was an overplayed pop song when I was a kid. Rooftops, Old School Reasons, and If you had a bad time, are some of my favorites, although I have to admit that I have been listening to the disc non-stop for a few months now and am very grateful for the band. I am a little confused by their sophmoric infactuation with blood, death and depression.
Cheers to Alkaline Trio! Keep em coming boys!

The Berlin cover (#4) is worth the price of this package alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just flat out great, April 8, 2007
This review is from: Remains (Bonus Dvd) (Dig) (Audio CD)
What can I say about a band like this? The songs are all great, even though I have downloaded all of the songs already (minus the live tracks) I still wanted to get the songs on cd and have complete and perfect sounding versions of them. The songs are great, from "Hell Yes" to "Jaked on Green Beers" and "Hating Every Minute" are all great. "Queen of Pain" is one helluva cover and the cd is thoroughly great. The dvd is great too. The "Remains 2005-2006" part of it is great. I love getting a backstage look at bands and especially if its a band I love like ALK3. For the dark subject matter they sing about so beautifully, it is great to see the happy go lucky parts of their touring lives. Parts like looking for the ear monitor in the dark and the skate park incident shed a light on the band you do not get to see through their music or the cd booklets. They seem like they really enjoy playing their music. If you are a fan or ALK3...you must pick this up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Alk 3, March 24, 2007

Okay. I love alkaline trio, and most likely always will. I have everything from this amazing band from my hometown, and really dig just about evrything they put out.
Remains is a strong album, with a lot of b-sides and covers, which makes this album a must for die-hard trio fans. Although some of the songs i wouldn't concider "rare" (i have had these songs long before Remains came out), this album is chock full of great songs that surprisngly didn't make the album cuts. The Trio did well here, letting out a b-sides album, and i really hope that they might release a REAl full length DVD. One that's a lot longer then the suggested 30 minutes on this one. I liked it, but want more.
Overall, this is a must have album, with a lot of dark, catchy trio hooks that got me to love the in the first place. Get this, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guilty As Charged, March 14, 2007
This review is from: Remains (Bonus Dvd) (Dig) (Audio CD)
OK I love ALK3 & have to have most every thing they do. But this has some great stuff. Their cover of Metro is just awesome! Great 80's tune, kickin' cover. The Hot Water split rocks, even if I already have another copy of it. The bonus DVD is a nice extra. Love the music videos w/out waiting for buffering.
