Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Engineered by Waring, this versatile meat grinder helps you ensure that the food you cook is as fresh as possible. Suitable for home use, the machine grinds beef for tacos, turkey for burgers, and pork for sausage, as well as non-meat items like vegetables and fruit. Powered by a 300-watt motor, the grinder has a durable die-cast metal hopper and brushed stainless-steel housing. It comes with three separate cutting plates to let you set the grind for the task at hand. Use the fine plate for baby food and hamburger, the medium plate for relishes and soup meat, and the coarse plate for vegetables or chunky ground. Operation of the grinder is simple, and the clearly marked on/off panel includes a reverse function that helps retrieve clogged food. The reverse toggle must be held down so you cannot accidentally leave it engaged. Waring also includes a small and a large sausage attachment for transferring blended meat and spices to sausage casings. Although the grinder may not have the hard-wearing qualities of all-metal models, the plastic used in its construction is both spare and durable. Waring includes a plastic food pusher and a recipe booklet, as well as a 5-year motor warranty and a 1-year warranty on the appliance. Cutting plates must be washed by hand. --Emily Bedard

Editor's note: This is a reconditioned small appliance. Reconditioned generally means that the appliance has been returned to the manufacturer, who returns the appliance to like-new condition. Some appliances may contain cosmetic blemishes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Meat Grinder at first, then started to slip, now unusable, November 16, 2009

I have had it for only one week, so far so good. Even though it is re-manufactured, it looks almost like new, and works great. It's not as noisy as some reviewers said. Besides, you only need to turn it on for 5-10 min every time. So the noise is acceptable.

I am adding more comments now after using it for 5 weeks (about once a week)...
The driving shaft and Feed Screw start to slip. The shaft is hex-shaped (instead of square-shaped), which is a not-long-lasting poor design for such a small size. Once it starts to slip, it can only become worse and worse. I am afraid it will become unusable soon.

8 months later, totally unusable.

I cannot believe this is pro quality. I will not buy anything from WARING.

Now I've only had this a week and so far I've had great results. I realize that it's a rebuilt machine, but I'm not grinding everyday. So for me the cost was perfect. And what I had it do has worked great. I'm very pleased so far. If I was using this everyday and pushing hundreds of pounds of meat thru the thing, It might be a different story, but for home user that makes sausage once a month or it gets used one a week I think it's great for the cost.

After recently bringing home 2 new kittens feeding them pre-made raw food was really hurting my pocket book, so I picked up this grinder to make my own. I am happy to say that it can handle most chicken bones (not drumstick or thigh though), and quickly grinds up boneless meat. When it's running it's actually quieter than my Oster blender I bought about a year ago. It's very easy to disassemble and clean, and is a nice size for storage on the counter top. The only thing that's a bit annoying is that the grinder plates will rust over unless you dry them immediately after washing and rub a little vegetable oil on them. The plates are very easy to change out mid-use if you need to, and the "reverse" function is nice to have, though I've never had to use it.
