4.0 out of 5 stars this vac sucks
This vac is great .We have a small white dog that sheds everywhere and our old vacuum just couldn't get it up and we tried it and it grabbed it with just one pass! The reason I give it 4 stars is it's loud.It probably exceeds 80 decibles. Also after 1 year the vacuum is always falling over it might be we were hard on it or it had a factory defalt. It was very simple to put...

1.0 out of 5 stars A Waste of Money - Buy Something Else, January 8, 2006
This review is from: Remanufactured BISSELL 3522R PowerForce Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
I have had 2 of these vacuums and both broke within 3 months. With the first one it worked great for the price for about the first week. Then it started getting clogged. No matter how often I emptied the container or cleaned the filters it kept getting clogged to the point that nothing would be in the dirt container and I would have to completely take it apart and pull out the dirt and dog hair. It was a total nightmare. After 2 months it started getting hard to turn on. I would have to hit the switch several times for it to work. Before the 3rd month the on/off switch broke completely. I took it back and exchanged it for a new one. I had the same problems with the 2nd vacuum. The new one took about 3 weeks before it started getting clogged. And before the 2nd month the on/off switch broke again. It also lost all of it's suction power and would just push everything instead of picking stuff up. I have not been able to find my receipt to return it, so I am going to throw this vacuum out for the trash man to have. Although the price is cheap it was a total waste of money and a huge headache. I will never buy a Bissell vacuum cleaner again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save yourself some grief, DON'T BUY THIS VACUUM CLEANER., August 14, 2005

Just as S. M. Jarvis below, I bought TWO of these vacuum cleaners; the second of them stopped working properly 32 days after it was purchased. Sure, while it's working it does a good job, and it is very inexpensive. But there are two serious problems that none of the other reviews have addressed.

First, the detachable hose that can be disconnected becomes deformed (twisted) very quickly. This causes the large pieces of dirt to collect inside the hose and inhibit the free flow of air to the bag. You have to constantly disconnect the hose from the vacuum and run water through it to remove all the trapped particles of dirt. Second, the foot lock/release is made of flimsy plastic. We broke our first one in just a month or two after purchase.

Neither of these things are covered under warranty, so the Bissell Customer Service person tells me. Also noting that if no defect in the vacuum cleaner is found, I would have to pay for the service. In other words, the warranty on this machine is worthless.

Put your $40+ towards something better... This won't last past the 1st bag change.

I've had the powerforce for less than two months and the belt has already broken on it. After searching about Bissell and broken belts, it seems like this is a common problem for them. Belts and brushes aren't covered under warranty as well and it doesn't matter whether it breaks on the 1st day or later, they say they aren't liable for anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great vacuum, especially for what it costs, January 2, 2007

I own a similar model (3524) that isn't available on Amazon.com. I purchased mine new for $[...].

This vacuum is a great value...it works really well. There just aren't better vacuums out there at such a low price.

We have three cats and a dog, so we need a vacuum that will get the animal hair off the carpet. The Bissell 3524 does this very well. It's not heavy at all, either, which is nice.

The only thing I wasn't 100% pleased with was the length of the hose. It's just a bit short. But it's easy to use and put back so you can easily switch between floor and furniture cleaning.

The bags can be a bit tough to find, so I recommend stocking up when you come across them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good product, July 21, 2005

This is an excellent vacuum cleaner, and seems to do the job as promised. It is really easy to assemble and to change the filters. The noise level is less than other comparable quality products, and it seems to have a powerful suction. 'Til now, I am very pleased with this product!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Smells Like Tobacco Smoke, October 27, 2005
This review is from: Remanufactured BISSELL 3522R PowerForce Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
We bought this vacuum for dirty jobs, and for that purpose it should do ok. It performs better than the old Eureka it replaces. However, the unit was dirty out of the box, the frame is dinged up, and the unit stinks of tobacco smoke.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cindy, May 13, 2007
This review is from: Remanufactured BISSELL 3522R PowerForce Upright Vacuum (Kitchen)
My husband and I were really leary about purchasing this vacuum due to the reviews I read on this site. We decided that for $30.00 we would take the chance. We are so glad that we did!! We have owned Eureka's, Hoovers and Kirby's in the past and overall we like this much better. It is lighter weight than ALL the others so vacuuming our stairs is much easier not to mention that you have more suction since the hose connects directly to the motor system instead of being routed through the rest of the vacuum. We use the hose a lot for dog hair on the furniture. We expected it to be really loud...but it's a little louder than the Hoover we have but not much. We bought this vacuum for our finished basement so we didn't have to drag a vacuum up and down the stairs all the time but the Hoover is the one that has been regulated to the basement. Overall, we really like the Bissell!

I don't know how this vaccum works new but this reconditioned one that I bought from Amazon is useless. The vaccum works ok but the hose will not pick up a thing. It is loud and whines. I will not buy another "Remanufactured" anything again. Very disappointed.
