I owned the original yellow dyson, and used it for 2 or more years and never had a problem with it .I then moved to a small place with laminate floors, and my post lady always wanted a Dyson so gave it to her.

I just moved into a very large 4 bedroom home that is mostly carpets so went to Big lots and picked up a large 12amp Dirt devil vision turbo vacuum, its very loud so you think it powerful so I vacuumed the whole house the day before my arrived.

It arrived in perfect condition you cant even tell it been a refurbished , it was easy to put together and i could not wait to test it, when i turned it on it was quiet, my first thought was oh boy i hope it cleans well, I cleaned just the living room and to my surprise it was almost half full with cat hair and dirt, yes dirt after i used the dirt devil.

I then went to the kitchen were i had spilled some rice from the pantry, i clicked the button and turned the power head off and did the floor.
The ball is awesome was not sure about it but love it :)
The dirt canister is very easy to empty and reinstall on the vacuum I don't even need to put on my glasses to do it.

This is one amazing machine I will be keeping this for a long time.
I would buy this again from Amazon in a heartbeat!

UPDATE:
Now almost a month later I dont see how i ever lived without it, the handle removes with a touch from the body, if you don't need the reach, you can use just the hose for cars or boats.
This is the Best vacuum I have ever owned hands down.
Its amazing on cat hair as we have two cats it picks it up and when you see how much you will be amazed.
Having the ability to switch off the brush is great you can pick up all kind of things even cat litter.

5 Month update:
Still works perfect, no problems at all, the very best Vacuum I ever owned.
It is so easy to empty thats the part I love most.

I loved this Dyson so much I bought another one for upstairs. Amazing vacuum cleaner and even more amazing price.

The wife and I are very happy with our purchase. We purchased this refurb at a great savings and it arrived like new. Works as advertised and really cleans!

We owned a Dyson in the UK and we loved it! When we moved to the US for an assignment, we left ours in storage in the UK as UK/US appliances are not interchangeable due to differences in voltages. We then made the mistake of buying a cheap Hoover over here in the US as we didn't think it was worth it investing in a Dyson for a few years. How silly! The Hoover hardly lasted for more than a few months before it stopped doing its basic job. My husband put his foot down when he caught me picking up dirt from the floor I just vacuumed and we bought a refurbished Dyson from Amazon and boy was that a good decision!! We should have stuck to what we know and bought a Dyson from the start. The refurb Dyson looked like new and worked its magic in the house. A year on and it is still by FAR the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used, and definitely the only vacuum cleaner I would EVER use!

Overall it does a fantastic cleaning job but the frame that holds the ball in place broke when I titled it on it's back to clean wound up dog hair from the brush. I assume that is why dyson redesigned the ball. This design is flawed and breaks easily.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for someone, so it has not been opened or used yet. I will review this further after the product is opened.

I purchased this Dyson after seeing the new version at Costco. At $100 less, this vacuum is as close to brand-new anyone could expect. Amazon double ordered this and I went so far as requesting a return ship label for the 2nd vacuum. But after I used mine, I could not send it back and ended up giving it to my sister. I hope she loves it as much as I do!
