Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Built specifically for business road warriors, this corporate class IBM ThinkPad T30 (model 2366-85U) is a thin, light notebook that will help you get the job done, wherever you roam. And because it's been factory reconditioned, it's a great value. It features a battery-sipping 1.8 GHz Pentium 4-M (Mobile) for long battery life while away from the office and the robust Windows XP Professional operating system. It also provides the freedom of wireless computing with an integrated 802.11b Wi-Fi network card. Weighing just under 6 pounds and measuring 1.5 inches thin, this notebook also features a 20 GB hard drive, 256 MB of installed RAM, a bright 14.1-inch screen, and a removable DVD-ROM drive. This remanufactured IBM notebook is covered by a 90-day warranty.

The Basics

  • Hard Drive: The 40 GB hard drive is below average in comparison to contemporary business-oriented notebooks (where 60 GB is becoming more the standard). However, it's still more than enough room for loading a business productivity suite and storing a wealth of spreadsheets, documents, and presentations.
  • Processor: The 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4-M (Mobile) processor offers enough speed for your work today, though its speed lags behind what is available in contemporary notebooks with this processor (as of Autumn 2005). Thanks to its Mobile features, the processor can save power when its not needed, thus conserving battery life. It also features a 400 MHz front-side bus and 512 KB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
  • Memory: The 256 MB of installed RAM (266 MHz) will get you started, but you'll want to add more to handle any kind of multimedia application and most business productivity suites. This notebook has a 1 GB maximum RAM capacity.
  • CD/DVD Drive: The DVD-ROM drive enables you to access CDs and DVD movies while on the road. It's also removable, so you can travel even lighter.
  • Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a standard 86-key keyboard and electro-static two-button touchpad.
Screen, Graphics and Sound
Video and graphics are powered by the ATI RADEON 7500 card (AGP 4x) with 16 MB of video RAM, which provides a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels on the 14.1-inch screen and 2048 x 1536 pixels on an external monitor. It also features an integrated Sound Blaster 16/Pro-compatible audio card with headphone and microphone jacks.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The T30 comes loaded with an integrated 802.11b Wi-Fi network card (which is older and slower than today's 54g/802.11g standard), and it offers just the basics for external connectivity:

  • 2 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
  • 1 VGA monitor port
  • 1 Serial port
  • 1 Parallel port
  • 1 infrared port
  • 1 S-Video out
  • 2 PCMCIA (or PC Card) slot (Type I/II)
  • 1 headphone jack
  • 1 microphone jack
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Gigabit Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).

Preloaded System and Software
This system comes with the Windows XP Professional Edition (which adds Microsoft's IIS Web server, back-up and recovery utilities, Remote Desktop, and other enhanced business features).

Dimensions and Weight
Perfect for portability, the T30 weighs 5.7 pounds and measures 12 x 9.85 x 1.5 inches (WxDxH).

Power
It's powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that has up to a 3.2-hour battery life.

What's in the Box
This package contains the IBM T30 2366-85U factory reconditioned notebook PC, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, and operating instructions.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Remanufactured IBM T30 2366-85U THINKPAD Notebook Computer (P4-M-1.8 256/40/DVD/14.1/80211.B/56K/XP PRO) (Personal Computers)
I ordered the T-30 IBM laptop because of the great price advantage. The product was delivered fast. However, I ran into a problem right at the first day. The CD drive seemed not working. I took it to a repair shop that confirmed that the CD drive was not working. After contacting the seller of Amazon, they instructed me to send it back for repair or replacement. Getting the replacement took two weeks and cost me additional $40 in shipping. No reimbursement was offered. Since the, I have no problem with the laptop.
