Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Built specifically for business road warriors, the corporate class IBM ThinkPad T23 is a thin, light notebook that will help you get the job done, wherever you roam. While it's powered by an older Pentium III processor and Windows 2000, this factory reconditioned notebook PC is a solid value and great for standard business computing tasks while away from the office. Weighing just over 5 pounds and measuring 1.3 inches thin, this notebook features a 20 GB hard drive, 256 MB of installed RAM (512 MB maximum), and a bright 14.1-inch screen. The DVD-ROM drive enables you to access CDs and DVD movies while on the road. It's also removable, so you can travel even lighter. It's powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that has up to a 3.2-hour battery life.

The older 1.4 GHz Intel Pentium III processor provides the biggest savings for this budget notebook. While not speedy or robust enough to handle heavy duty multimedia processing, it's stable and nimble enough for basic business-oriented software. It also features a 100 MHz front-side bus and 256 KB L2 cache.

The 14.1-inch screen has a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels, and video and graphics (16 bit) are powered by the S3 SuperSavage IXC16 processor. It also features an integrated Sound Blaster 16/Pro-compatible audio card with headphone and microphone jacks. Other features include:

  • 1 USB 1.1 port for connecting to PDAs, MP3 players, printers, and more
  • Serial and Parallel connections for connecting to peripherals
  • PS/2 connection for external keyboard or mouse
  • 10/100 Ethernet and 56 Kbps modem ports
  • 2 PC card slots compatible with two Type I and Type II cards, or one Type III card
  • It measures 12 x 9.8 x 1.3 inches
  • 2 memory slots; 1 available

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not a good deal at all., January 9, 2006

For this price even an entry level "new" machine is a much, much better purchase decision.

Dell, compaq, HP, Acer and even IBM themselves all have brand new machines that are running modern processors (not dinosaur PIII), 40 or 60 gig hd, DVD/CD burners, integrated wifi, and much better battery life -and- usually cost less than this machine at 70% off.

In short...if you purchase this item you obviously have not shopped around very much.

I am sorry.I had to respond to the listing of this crappy outdated, laptop. Many years ago i owned this troublesome model. It was slow, and had little capacity, for todays computer users.I gave it away...Now if it sold for 300 dollars,id say it was good for e-mail,and slow surfing, only, maybe!!!There are many brands offering at least a 60 or 80 gb hard drive and higher quality 15.4 inch screen...At this price point you can get a gatway, dell, acer,hp,and more, when on sale...I am very angry...I hate to see people get ripped off...You can get a good sony hd tv,enty level for this price...Please look elseware, for a computer...Thank you Stewart L.

1.0 out of 5 stars Five-year-old technology, should be $60, not $600, March 28, 2006
This review is from: Remanufactured IBM Thinkpad T23 Notebook (1.2Ghz Pentium III, 256MB RAM, 20GB Hard Drive, CD-ROM) (Personal Computers)
This is a very old Thinkpad notebook and the processor technology is at least 3 years old. If it were $60 it would have made a nice starter machine for a teenage kid, but otherwise it's a waste of money and totally not worth it. For the same money you can get a new Toshiba or Fujitsu that's 50 times faster with a screen that's 20 times better.
