The SC-HT425D combines a 5-disc progressive scan DVD player with a 6-speaker system--five satellites and one center channel--with a powered subwoofer for a powerful 600 watts of total power output. It also offers Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS, DTS ES, and DTS Neo:6 processing for amazingly clean surround sound. DTS Neo:6 takes lower quality recordings in matrixed stereo (such as analogue TV broadcasts or VHS video recordings) and generates five or six full-bandwidth channels of sound for 5.1 and 6.1 systems respectively. DTS-ES provides 6.1 discrete channels of sound--the 5.1 channels of standard DTS, plus a discrete, full-bandwidth "back surround" channel.

The 5-disc DVD player/changer is compatible with a wide range of disc formats, including DVD-Audio, DVD-RAM/R, and CD-R/RW, as well as HighMAT, JPEG, MP3 and WMA file formats. The incorporated High-Performance Media Access Technology (HighMAT) provides enhanced the method of storing, arranging and playing back personal digital photo, music and video collections on recordable discs such as CD-RW media. Other features include disc exchange during playback, cinema mode, 24-bit, 96 MHz DAC (digital to analog converter), playlist playback feature, and Depth Enhancer feature (for startling depth and true-to-life skin tones, as well as a soft, movie background focus).
