Not only did this machine fail to play my DVDs but it made a clicking sound when the DVDs were put in there. It only plays music CDs. This machine does everything BUT play DVDs.
My advice to you is to never buy a remanufactured product, spring for the few extra dollars your peace of mind will be worth it in the end. I am still waiting on Amazon to either replace the player or give me back my money.

The DVD tray was not opened after pressing the open/close button.It was not tested properly as the basic function was not working.I am waiting for Amazon's reply to exchange this product. If i face the same type of problem in 2nd time then i will go for money back.
I have received the 2nd item but the same prolem, the DVD didn't work. I will return both the items.

I wish all these reviews were made prior to my purchase.

When it arrived, it looked as if it had been in a war zone, but I kept it as it appeared to work. But after a few plays, I got similar problems to others here. Fortunately, Amazon's shipping back at their expense without hassle.

Shame on Philips for trying to pass off such junk.

I got 2 of these and both of them didnt work 1 of them was so damagerd that the dvd door wouldnt open stay away look at the toshiba instead.....

It was purchasd as a gift for my grandkids and I do not know much about it. Their parents said it works nice and plays all their DVDs and tapes. They are happy so I am happy.
