This review is from: Remanufactured Rio Nitrus 1.5 GB MP3 Player (Electronics)
I also own a Creative MuVo 128M and an RCA Lyra 20G. I bought the RIO Nitrus for a friend's birthday and thought it would be a friendly gesture to load an album or two into it.
What a surprise! The software that came with the RIO Nitrus auto-detected music on my computer and presented me with a list. I selected a few albums, pressed one button and the songs flew over the USB2.0 connection. Building playlists was easy. The ID3 tags are available to the software so it was easy to set up playlists for individual albums or to play favorite songs. Another click of the button and the playlist transferred over to the device. The user interface is intuitive and easy to use. The monochrome LCD display is easy to read and it's backlit. The sound is great, though I admit I used Bose headphones rather than the silly little earwigs that came with the unit. I didn't find the buttons on this unit to be any flimsier than the buttons on my other mp3 players, but I don't intend to ham-hand the unit so it's not an issue. If you can, get the refurbished unit. It looks just fine to me and costs a good deal less.

This review is from: Remanufactured Rio Nitrus 1.5 GB MP3 Player (Electronics)
This player has several things that annoy, the primary being that it cannot be used as a 'mass storage device'. This means you have to use either the included software, or windows media player, to transfer files. If you can get past that, it works just fine. The buttons are weird, and difficult to press, and the battery life is average. Also, if you want to move stuff from the player to your computer, it takes _ages_. The link is in some way downgraded for uploads, as near as I can work out. All that said, for less than $100 it's not the worst option - 1.5 gigs is a lot of music!

I bought this player last summer before going away for 6 weeks where I had no computer access. Not only did it work wonderfully the entire 6 weeks but the space allowed me to load enough music so I never got too bored with any one album. When I first bought the player I did have a problem that the hard drive crashed but they were very helpful in replacing my product. The only other problem I have found is that the lock button became loosened after a year of use. The battery life is also perfect it lasts about 10 hours and takes about 2 hours to fully charge. Overall I love my rio.
