The sleekly designed Uniden TRU448 optimizes your communications at home or in a small office with many useful features, including expandability for a second handset, phone book memory, a digital answering system, and speakerphone. The caller ID displays menus in Spanish, English, and French (with service subscription for call waiting and caller ID). Also included is convenient dialing with dynamic caller ID memory and last-three-number redial.

Uniden digital technology ensures clarity and security with features to provide all the basic benefits you look for in a phone. The TRU448 uses microchip technology requiring no message tapes, and the speakerphone gives you hands-free freedom and flexibility.

Set your preference with distinctive rings: four melody ringers and six ring tones. You can scroll through caller ID and memory while on a call. An indicating light lets you know when you have voicemail waiting. With the addition of the second handset, you can transfer calls between handsets in different locations and note the handset status with an LED indicator. The phone comes ready for a headset with a built-in jack. The NiMH battery has a long life with 10 days on standby and six hours of talk time. This factory-refurbished unit is backed by a 90-day warranty.

This phone is the land phone at my home.

I like that on the phone itself it has "remote playback". This means that if you have a message, a little red light will flash, and you push remote playback button. You can hear your messages.

This feature is also great when you walk into the house. If you see the red light flash you have a message.

The phone also features phonebook and about 10 different ringtones.

You can set a different ringtone for everyone in your phonebook so you know who is calling without picking up the phone.

This phone has caller ID capability, but, you have to pay extra with your phone company to have it. :(

It is expandable, we have expanded it, we have one in the living room and one in my mom and dad's room.

The dock has speaker phone, answering machine, page, and antenna.

On the expandable phones though, they do no have spaeker phone,page, or even answering machine. :(

You can even fast forward or skip a message on the dock AND EVEN ON REMOTE PLAYBACK!Just press 1 for F.F. and 3 for R.W., 4 to delete.

It does have redial.

Overall, this is a good family phone. Put the main dock in the kitchen, 1 in each room, and maybe outside.

Oh yha, my dad takes this phone outside all the time, he's dropped it about 5 times, still works great!

This phone was economical, and has proven to be a good value. However, it lacks features that have me looking to buy a more feature-rich replacement.

1) Telephone directories cannot be shared between phones. I finally gave up and started relying on my cell phone's contact list instead. It just takes too much time to program all the phones at the same time. We also kept getting the phones mixed-up, so I never knew which phone had the "correct" phone number.

2) This phone is not compatible with WiFi networks. There is no mechanism for excluding a portion of the 2.4 GHz spectrum. It helped to change my wireless router's channel number, but I still get kicked off the network routinely.

3) Handsets do not contain a speaker phone. This is something I never thought about until recently when call centers started getting relocated to India. At least it does supports a headset.

4) No service during a power outage.
