I've wanted one of these for years, and could never justify $80 for a waffle maker when I don't make waffles every weekend. This seemed like the perfect buy. It's half the price, but it still has the same manufacturers warranty according to the Amazon site... and I've used remanufactured products before with great success.Alas, it was not meant to be. The box arrived, and all appeared in decent condition. There was some scoring and scratching on some of the components, and it looked as though it had seen some use. I was a little confused as it's supposed to be remanufactured, not simply 'used and cleaned.' Another disappointment came with the warranty. The warranty is NOT the 1-Year that Amazon is advertising, but a 90-day remanufactured warranty from Waring. Seemed like the deal was getting worse all the time. The final kicker came when, after plugging in the item, I discovered that one of its important features, the cooking timer, is not functioning. My waffles came out burned if I just left them, waiting for some mythical beeping timer to go off, and if I kept checking them on and off to see if they were right, they never seemed to come out well. I called Waring to verify that this feature does indeed exist, as I wasn't sure I'd read it right in the manual, and they verified that yes, the product appears to be defective. Overall a wholly disappointing purchase that I'd really had my heart set on. I shall attempt a replacement from Amazon, but with the quality of the first one, and the FAR more limited warranty than was advertised, I'm more than a little wary. ----------- Edit: Okay. The second one has arrived with the exact same defect in the timer. I'm sending it back. I really WANTED one, but Amazon won't replace it since I've had two bad ones. I received a letter thanking me for pointing out the issue with the misrepresented 1-year warranty, but as I look at the site, it's still printed as 1-year.

I've wanted one for a long time, but, like others hesitated at the $80 pricetag. I was so excited to find this for half price and it was worth the wait. The box, interior packaging, literature and unit were in brand new condition...in fact I had to look through the paperwork to find any indication of the unit being remanufactured. Solid construction and smooth movement and more importantly DELICIOUS WAFFLES. The very first one (which I made as soon as I got it out of the box) came out perfect on the #4 setting; so did the last one. Perfectly golden brown, perfectly consistent, flawless non-stick. Timer indicator worked just fine. It beeps when it is ready for the first waffle and it beeps when the cylce is complete.I'd love to do pros and cons, but as of yet, I have no cons! Don't hesitate if these are in stock...they tend to go quick. Thanks Amazon!

Never was a big waffle person but I like the throw big brunches so I thought I would incorporate a waffle station. Very easy to use, hardly any cleanup (just butter the grids a little before each waffle), and makes them quick, probably every 4 min or so. I am definitly enjoying this unit, looks great too came in perfect condition. The only thing is once and a while the timer does not go off. Seems to be every third waffle so I keep an eye out for that. (hence the 4 stars) But this is so worth the $40.

WARNING: This item is shipped via fed ex in the manufacturer's box with the name and a drawing of the waffle maker. If this is a Christmas present, try to be home to intercept it.We've been wanting one of these for years so I ordered it for my husband for Christmas when it was on sale for $39.99 (later went to $34.99). Even for a refurbished unit, I thought this was a great deal. The box came today (2 days after I placed the order!) and I examined the waffle maker before wrapping it. It is very well packaged, all the pieces are there as well as the instructions, manual, etc. I saw absolutely no marks, scratches, or dings of any kind that give away that the unit is refurbished. HOWEVER, the lid is extrememly "wobbly" at the hinge where it connects with the bottom plate of the waffle maker. It isn't about to come off - it is just very loose. It wiggles to the left and right very noticeably. Is this common with these wafflemakers? I don't know. I'll need to check one in a store. For now, because of the price, super quick shipping, excellent packaging and the fact that we've been wanting one forever, I'll give this item 5 stars. After using it and determining whether the lid is messed up, this review will be edited.

I received a broken waffle maker. Sent it back, received another broken waffle maker. Both were broken due to poor packing. They both were broke in a place that could not be fixed to be operational.Save the headache and buy the newer Waring Pro PROFESSIONAL waffle maker with the fold down handle. If you shop around you can find one for about ten buck more than the remanufactured cleaper line for a much better waffle maker, and brand new! Would NOT recommend rebuilt on this item. Would give ZERO stars not one! Also bad customer service.

Okay, the testament to how much I like this waffle maker is that I've gained about 10 pounds since using it. If you are a vegan like me, you can find yummy recipes to work with on the web. Just don't blame me if you gain some weight as well! :-)

This thing is GREAT! I was also hesitant about the refurb aspect, but mine arrived in almost perfect condition (maybe a slight scratch or two, but nothing deep or serious). I was sad at first, because I 'seasoned' the non-stick coating, according to the instructions, and my first few waffles stuck horribly, to the extent that the waffle 'split' in two, with each half stuck to each side of the waffle maker. I now realize that this was probably due to my waffle mix and the oil content, because I have now used other mix, including Bisquik, and get absolutely perfect waffles that don't stick, ever! I don't even pre-oil anymore, just plug in, and let it beep to tell me it's ready, and pour the batter on. Literally that simple. My machine beeps approx 90% of the time to tell me the waffles are ready. Of note, my waffle hinge also seems a little 'wiggly', but it has never affected performance. It's one of those appliances that COULD take up space with the fondue maker, breadmaker, rice cooker, sandwich griller, pasta maker, etc.....but I definitely use this! The kids love it, and help with the mixing of the batter, flipping the waffler, etc. This has definitely saved me the cost of SEVERAL family breakfasts! If it's ever at $35 or $40 again, buy it!!!

Absolutely perfect condition, not so much as a scratch or fingerprint, (and on brushed aluminum you can tell). Free second day shipping with Amazon Prime membership.90 day warranty isn't as good as 1 year, but I'm gonna enjoy the additional product testing to make sure I got a good one. <g> |
