5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Indie Flick, June 20, 2010
This review is from: Remarkable Power (DVD)
Though the two biggest names in this movie play side roles... well it is actually hard to tell who the main character is.
Basically the movie is one major caper that leads to a series of crazy events and then it all comes together.
If you like Snatch, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Fight Club, or Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. Then you'll appreciate this one.
Remember its just a mid budget indie flick has its dry parts but then has several great moments.

Also take note that it is Rated R. That usually means blood, sex, and bad words.
Plus it is a Dark Comedy so expect almost humorous impalements and people trying to steal dead bodies.
Not for the faint of heart, but in the end for 98 cents plus shipping this one will be worth your while.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rent, don't buy, January 20, 2012
Remarkable Power is not a great movie, and not even a really good movie, but it does have many funny moments. As mentioned in the other reviews, it earns its "R" rating through some graphic scenes of sexual and violent nature, as well as language, but really nothing out of the ordinary. If you appreciate dark, irreverant humor and sprawling, non-linear plots, you'll probably find Remarkable Power a good way to spend 90 minutes. This reminds me of the comedies they used to air on tv at 2:00AM on weekends (if it was edited, that is) -- just right if you're bored and want to watch something, but not necessarily something you'd spend much money on or want to buy to re-watch. Be advised some of the actors listed don't have huge screen time (i.e., Christopher Titus), but everyone gets their moments. The pace is slow and the plot confusing in the beginning, but stick with it, because the movie gathers steam, gets funnier, and all the disparate parts begin to come together by the mid-point.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible - we had to turn it off, June 13, 2010
This review is from: Remarkable Power (DVD)
We're big fans of Kevin Nealon, and who can forget Tom Arnold's great performance in True Lies! We saw Kevin Nealon live and he was hilarious! Though we'd never heard of this movie, and it didn't make it to wide distribution on the big screen, we thought it would have to be at the very least somewhat entertaining. After about 1/2 hour we had to turn it off.

At that point we still didn't have any idea what this movie was really supposed to be about. The script was terrible, unbelievable and uninteresting. We were still going to wait it out to see if it got better, but suddenly there was unbelievably graphic gore on screen. This gory scene just kept going and going and going. My wife covered her eyes and begged me to turn off the movie. I had no problem complying.

Sometimes a certain amount of violence is necessary to tell a story, but this seemed to be horror for the sake of adding thrill to an otherwise very boring and empty show. It didn't work. It should also be noted that right at the start of the film there was a long, graphic sex scene, which bordered on porno-style. If you wanted to get a message across that this woman was cheating, it didn't have to be delivered that graphically and that long. Again, it seems to be there as a trick for the sake of helping the film, but it didn't.

You wouldn't know that the any of this gore or explicit sex is in the film from the DVD box, so be warned. Sorry Kevin and Tom, but you guys are waaaaaay better than this.
