About the Author
Richard Thorud is the author and illustrator of this book. He's been an author for most of his lifeand he's done other things too. For example, after graduating from the University of Minnesota, he pursued a career in research and development at a fortune 500 company, where he amassed more than 50 patents. And as an artist, he has exhibited at such prestigious institutions as the Minneapolis Art Institute and the Walker Art Center.
But first he was a writer. He began as a news writer in the U.S. Army, and after that he continued to write freelance for various publications. This includes Viking Magazine, for which he has written feature articles on a variety of topics of interest to Scandinavian-Americans.
