Editorial Reviews

Review

“As one of the few books on its topic Rematerial stands out in the field of sustainability and design publications and it would be a good addition to any collection that covers this territory.” (ARLIS/NA Reviews)

Every day tons of garbage is added to landfills - but what if many of these materials can be recycled? Alejandro Bahamon & Maria Camila SanJines's REMATERIAL focuses on projects that rescue discarded materials from cargo containers to cups, and change them into buildings and projects that are sustainable and practical. Chapters trace a movement of diverse professions who reuse materials with architecture projects in mind, and promotes the use of waste in architecture and design. College-level arts libraries will find this an appealing pick!

I bought this book because of the wide array of materials it covers. I love reading about innovative material use, often looking for simple/inexpensive ways to make a project more unique. This book has lots of great pictures and diagrams for the processes for projects and touches on life-cycle impacts of materials. Overall a great resource for a designer in the building industry.
