5.0 out of 5 stars Rembrandt a product of his times, October 26, 2010
This review is from: Rembrandt's Bankruptcy: The Artist, His Patrons, and the Art World in Seventeeth-Century Netherlands (Hardcover)
Paul Crenshaw's book on Rembrandt's bankruptcy was a very thorough, detailed account of how and why Rembrandt went into debt. I have studied art history for many years and thought that I truely understood why Rembrandt died in poverty. Crenshaw's book ,however, opened my eyes to very insightful information about Rembrandt the man rather than the kindly man we see in his self portraits. Experts and history buffs alike who love Rembrandt will enjoy this book.
