I have known Fr. Stevens for years -he was the Priest at our wedding years ago, and baptized our oldest at St. Theresa's Church and our youngest at Tintern Monestary (as a matter of fact, I think our Sam was the only one ever to be baptized there). This man had such stories to tell - and many of them were of his growing up in Boys Town - and his admiration of the founder. Fr. Stevens, you haven't changed at all - you still come across in this book as spirited and in awe as the stories you told at our pre-marital counseling! Such a wonderful man Fr. Stevens is - he loved to sing his Irish tunes, loved all his parishoners with all his soul, and loved His God more. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. An amazing book about an amazing man - written by an amazing man whom I have always admired. Thank you Fr. Stevens.

I recently reviewed Father Stevens book about Father Flanagan whose life goal was to rehabilitate troubled and wayward children and prove there is no such thing as a bad boy. Even though he faced struggles from the beginning, it is heartwarming to realize his strength and efforts resulted in providing children with a home, education, and surrogate family to those who otherwise never knew what normalcy of family life meant. In the face of adversity, Father Flanagan never lost sight of his goal - to help them grow into productive adults and citizens. Father Clifford Stevens hit the nail on the head with his delivery in this book which he drew from his personal knowledge of Father Flanagan and his untiring effort that put Boys Town on the map. The book is easy reading and although short, it vividly captures Father Flanagan's life.
