5.0 out of 5 stars When Kaddish is not enough..., October 22, 1999
By
They say death and taxes are the only things one can be sure of. But when the death of a close friend or loved one happens, it can leave us feeling lost and bewildered. "Remember My Soul" is a book of direction through the painful journey of mourning. Each of 30 days is examined allowing the reader to take as little as 5 minutes to (?) per day to study a specific Torah subject "in this person's memory". Each day culminates with a "diary of remembrance" that invites your memories of the deceased, and how they relate to each day's lesson. After the death of my 15yr old nephew Joshua, this book helped my family through those helpless days of awkward adjustment. I recommend this book not only for the Jewish person struggling through Shiva and mourning, but non-Jews (as myself) can benefit from the ageless wisdom and inspiration from the Torah.

5.0 out of 5 stars Consolation in a book, December 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this book for my wife who was recently bereaved of her father.
A close friend lent her Remember My Soul when she expressed a wish to learn more
about the Jewish way in mourning.
She has found it of great continuing comfort and support, gently instructive at this most difficult of times in her life.
I thought we should also possess a copy.
Buying via Amazon was simple, effective and the seller most efficient, the book arriving at our front
door shortly after I ordered.
For those wishing to know and understand more about Jewish mourning customs, this is a valuable ally and Amazon and the seller make it simple to acquire.

4.0 out of 5 stars very helpful, August 11, 2010
I found this book to be quite helpful in coping with the sudden loss of a son in law; while I did not follow the "exercises" on a daily basis during the 30 day period following his death, I read them all and have made notes where appropriate. I plan to complete the journal pages and save them for my grandchildren; additionally I purchased a numnber of copies which I provided to friends and relatives with the request that they also complete the journal pages. These will also be saved until they are older. A sound, sane and helpful approach to mourning.
