The book was written very woodenly which gave the characters a lack of depth. Jennifer M. Miller  |  15 reviewers made a similar statement

2.0 out of 5 stars what ending? June 3, 2012
By knitwit
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
While I like characters who continue to grow and develop over many books, I prefer some sort of ending or summation. The story needs more than a pause. That's why the two stars. If you're okay with a non-ending then it's worth .99 cents. The author needs work but she will probably get there eventually. And while her characters need a little more life, buy it for the plot. It is creative.

Lisa's review of
Bound to Remember
By Lola James

I have to admit I read her other series Fates Design and absolutely loved it. I didn't know about this book till recently when I saw that book 2 is being released soon. Lola definitely had me from the get go. Only took 1 hour to read the whole book cause I couldn't put it down for any amount of money. It had my two loves in life for books Vampires and Mythology. I love both of these types of books and she was able to intricately do both in one book and have it be done seamlessly and not destroying any topic. I will say that the last page had me
screaming at Lola a lot. Thankfully the second book in series comes out in a few days. I hate not knowing what is going to happen. I am looking forward to book 2 and I highly recommend you getting both books in this series and book 1 in Fates Design series.

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The book was written very woodenly which gave the characters a lack of depth. It read like one of those learn another language book. Example. I am Jane. I am an er doctor. I went to school for a ver long time. Etc. Pretty elementary. Decent story line though.

1.0 out of 5 stars Glad it didn't cost anything September 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I downloaded this book because it was being offered for free. I've read some great free books in the past because the author was trying to get buzz. I would not often say that reading anything was a waste of my time, but this book is the exception. I had a very difficult time finishing this. (I actually read 6 other books in between) I think the basic idea behind Bound To Remember had promise, but the dialog was so choppy and the editing was so poor I had to keep closing the book down. Even my husband who read a page over my shoulder one day said, "Wow, that's some bad writing!" I respect the author's attempt and the work she put into it, but I really wished she would have spent some serious time on character development, or smoothing out all the choppiness.

2.0 out of 5 stars Why did I download this? September 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love paranormal romance, so I was happy to start this book. But quickly it became clear that this author wasn't much of a writer, and certainly not an editor. I actually thought it was written by a man (as the characters are not realistic women in the slightest), and by a non-native english speaker (as the dialog is so awkward and unnatural). Sometimes I wonder if these authors even read the book through again before they hit the publish button! It had the potential to be interesting, but jumped so quickly from scene to scene that I thought I was skipping parts of the book by accident. The characters were so wooden and acted so incomprehensibly, that I finally gave up trying to enjoy the book and just finished. I will pass on the next in the "series."

1.0 out of 5 stars What the heck???/.. February 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love a free book but this one was a waste of time.... It ends abruptly and you know that if you want to find out 'what happens' you have to buy the next book.. that having been said, I wouldn't pay to read the next in this series. The story itself is all over the place, and it's easy to get lost trying to follow the thread. There isn't anything really "paranormal" about this book either.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it November 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The premise of this book had potential, but that was lost in the first chapter. The story was poorly written, and the grammar atrocious! The editor of this book must have slept through all four years of high school English classes- there were multiple run-on and almost incomprehensible sentences.

The characters were underdeveloped, the story disjointed, and the lack of contractions made the language stilted and unnatural. With a decent editor and some more story and character development, this could be an interesting read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Delightful Vampire Read July 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
There are so many vampire stories out there. At first they began to blend all together. Now, I'm pleasantly surprised to see many authors taking different twists on the old stories and giving readers something new and entertaining. Lola James has done just that with her Bound to Remember book.

A young doctor finds herself strangely attracted to a new nurse. Immediately, strange things start happening as Toni feels herself unexplainably drawn to Ben. The more she learns, the more confused everything becomes. Suddenly, witches and the Greek gods become part of the unbelievable tale. Soon she'll wonder what the truth really is.

This book does not give the reader time to get bored. Strange things start happening immediately. The story then progresses very fast and definitely not in a state that we would call `normal'. Then again this is a story of vampires and Greek gods and witches. How normal should it be?

Ms. James' writing is light and at times funny. Her characters are likeable. You won't find stiff writing here. She writes in a style that is extremely casual and easy to read while not being elementary.

This is a paranormal romance. Vampires, blood, gods, and witches are all part of it. There is no foul language and intimate scenes are more hinted at and thought about then portrayed.

What I loved about this book the most is the ending. I have to read the second book now. In fact, I'll start it in a few minutes. This is one that will have you wondering what is going on and have you demanding to know.

Note: This book was given to me by the author with no expectation of a positive review.

Characters just aren't complete. The story has potential as do the characters, but it reads somewhat disjointed. Cliffhanger ending doesn't leave you wanting more. Read more

Not well written. I wanted to give the main character a "dope slap". How could a doctor be so naive and clueless.
