What a beautiful, wonderful story. I couldn't put it down. The tale of the Baxter family and it's patriach Dr. John Baxter and his wife Elizabeth stirred my heart with the tender honesty I crave in fiction. 3.0 out of 5 stars The Power of Memories and remembering
"Remember" is a lot better than "Redemption". I liked that the characters had more depth to them, especially Ashley. I still found Kari to be a little too perfect, and non emotional through the first half of the book. I did, however, find her character more likable when she went up to NY to see Ryan. I also cried a little in the end when Kari got a nice surprise. Luke and...

What a beautiful, wonderful story. I couldn't put it down. The tale of the Baxter family and it's patriach Dr. John Baxter and his wife Elizabeth stirred my heart with the tender honesty I crave in fiction. Everyone didn't pray the sinner's prayer or make all the right choices, but this book filled me with hope and faith. We are all so weak and fallable and in need of the great grace Christ offers.

From the fragile memories of the Alzhemier's patients at Sunset Hills to the each of the Baxter children's journey to recapture the love and faith they'd left, lost or never discovered, REMEMBER is unforgettable. Bring the tissues and be prepared to leave this book's pages with a renewed understanding of faith, family and country. I'd been thinking this week that a depressive feeling I hadn't felt since September 11th had begun to assail me again in light of recent events. This book was a refreshing chance to truly remember, not only the sorrow of 9-11, but the charity and unity that followed. May God strengthen us all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Characters Who Grow On You, June 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Remember (Redemption Series-Baxter 1, Book 2) (Paperback)
I enjoyed both Redemption, and the latest, Remember. The author has given the reader characters who face real struggles yet grow spiritually in dealing with them. When a character "falls away", the author leaves the reader with the hope that he/she will return and renew their faith. It is easy to feel the heartwrenching pain and heartache the characters experience, as well as the joys. The book is a very easy read, and left me waiting expectantly for the next book, Return. For me, "not wanting a book to end" is the hallmark of a well written book, and is what I've found in the Redemption series.

5.0 out of 5 stars COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!, April 25, 2003

This is the first Karen Kingsbury book I have read. I missed the first book but I am going to go back and read it too. I can hardly wait for the next book to come out. What a blessing this book was! I plan to share it with all my friends who love to read like I do. I also plan to read every book by Karen that I can get my hands on! The way she portrays her characters is amazing. It is as if you were living in the Baxter house and you are one of the family. You feel what they feel. I couldn't put this book down. My mom died a few months ago and this has helped me so much to remember her in ways I had never thought of before. The loss has eased somewhat. I hope her other books are this inspiring, uplifting, and helpful. I read one review that said it more of a self help book than fiction. Not So! It's like a buy one get one free! You are not only caught up in the story but at the same time you will reflect on your own life and realize that God is always there waiting for you to give it all to Him and watch Him work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tragedy/healing, hurt/forgiveness, the back cover says it all, September 5, 2005
This review is from: Remember (Redemption Series-Baxter 1, Book 2) (Paperback)
Wow, I've never a had a book impact so much emotionally. The title is so perfect in so many ways. It's about so much more than 9-11. It's about remembering your first love, remembering your youth and the good things in life, remembering to care and to live in the moment rather than protect your heart from pain because you never know what tomorrow will bring, remembering God and the big picture, remembering that only God can heal our heart and love us the way we need to be loved. I cried so many times during this story I can't remember (LOL!), mainly because all of the relationships between the characters were so real. And there was true love, and romance, and kissing between several sets of characters, all with different issues causing them pain. This is so often absent in "inspirational" fiction, and that makes me sad. The characters' temptations were real, their sin and mistakes were real, the losses they all felt were amazingly real. I don't think the 9-11 thing was overdone at all. Maybe because I'm from NY state, it hits me closer to home. I remember watching the events unfold on television (while living in Arizona) and being in shock for a week. Remembering this event, in my opinion, is important, because like with any tragedy we tend to forget, and I don't think that's a good thing at all. Remembering makes us love more, try harder, and ultimately heal. Did I mention that I couldn't put this book down? Good thing this was a long weekend!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, March 19, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Remember (Redemption Series-Baxter 1, Book 2) (Paperback)
This is a perfect part two for "Redemption"! Infact I rate it to be even better than the first. In book one you were left wondering three things: "What's in store for Kari and Ryan?", "What happened to Ashley in Paris?", and "Why is Luke such a jerk?". This answers your questions while still leaving room for the next book.
While it is a great book, I don't recommend this to people who get really uncomfortable with.......intimacy. This story deals with real issues. Some people may need to think about reading it before hand. Rest assured this book does NOT justify such things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazed, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Remember (Redemption Series-Baxter 1, Book 2) (Paperback)
This book does the unexpected as it takes you down the road to recovery with Ashley, a young woman with a troubled past. At first I didn't think that I would enjoy it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It shows that God will forgive our sins if we ask Him. I was also surprised at how the author used the events of 9/11 to shape the story. It held my attention and left me amazed to the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than "Redemption" !, March 1, 2005
By

I picked up "Redemption" on a whim, and was very glad I did. I was completely drawn into the Baxter family saga, and came to love all the characters like they were real people. But the one who really stuck with me was Ashley Baxter.

"Remember" is Ashley's story. It still checks in on everyone else, but the focus this time is definitely on the lives of Ashley and Landon. The novel was very emotionally involoving- there were moments I sobbed. I felt the September 11 scenes were quite tastefully done, and I know I had tears streaming down my face numerous times.

I would highly recommend this series to anyone who likes an emotionally involving set of novels. I've found the Baxter family constantly on my mind as I wait to read the next book. You'll be drawn in and come to care about these people like they're your family--Ms. Kingsbury is that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! I could not put it down!, May 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Remember (Redemption Series-Baxter 1, Book 2) (Paperback)
I have read several books by Karen Kingsbury and she has never failed me yet to supply a great read. The characters in this book show true human nature and emotions. Family emotions and true to life struggle within. How valuable family is to a person. I especially enjoyed the love and concern that our main character Ashley shows to the Alhemizer patients. This is an excellent book, I did not realize it was part of a series so now I can't wait to read the first book in the series "Redemption". Truly a great, moving, enjoyable read. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN, October 30, 2003

This review is from: Remember (Redemption Series-Baxter 1, Book 2) (Paperback)
These "R" books by Karen Kingsbury and Gary Samlley are absolutely wonderful (Redemption, Remember, Reunion). Have read all 3 and can not wait for #4. Have just finished my first of Karen Kingsbury's novels "Where Yesterday Lives" and this book was awesome, too. Am ordering three more of her books today. She is a blessing and an author I can understand completely.

4.0 out of 5 stars A STORY OF INSPIRATION AND HOPE, October 18, 2005

Novelist Karen Kingsbury and relationship expert Gary Smalley joined forces one book ago to not only tell a story but remind us of some valuable life lessons - what is important, how should we treat one another?

Voice performer Sandra Burr gives her usual accomplished reading as she inhabits the mind and heart of Ashley Baxter, a young woman who is trying desperately to prove that she needs no one - not even God.

Those who read or heard the first in this series know that the stories revolve around the Baxter family, very human folks who face the challenges often encountered by all of us - especially when an enormous tragedy occurs such as September 11.

Ashley is loved by Landon Blake. For years she has been the only one for him. Now, he must forget her heartbreaking rejection and do all he can to help at Ground Zero. This monstrous event also causes Ashley to change in a way that she had never dreamed.

Once again, Kingsbury and Smalley have offered a story of inspiration and hope.
