5.0 out of 5 stars WOW was I wrong, November 26, 2003
By
This review is from: Remember Right Now (Audio CD)
Wow I first bought this CD and thought I would listen to it once and store it away. My friend loves this band and let me listen to the first 3 songs, I wasn't impressed. But I went and bought the CD and after listening to it all the way through once, I haven't stopped loving it. This band is so awesome, their lyrics are so well said and go together so well, I knew all the lyrics in a day. My fav song is "Make my heart attack." This song is so awesome, I sing it every morning. The rest of the songs are just as awesome. Go out and buy this CD immediateley! Give it a chance to grow on you. Also chechk out Fall Out Boy, Brandnew, Northstar, Something Corporate, Brodie, and River City High. All AWESOME bands!

4.0 out of 5 stars It had to grow on me, July 27, 2003

I heard of Spitalfield through word of mouth. I gave them a chance. At first listen, i didn't like what I heard. After a few more spins though, it started growing on me. Spitalfield writes catchy emo/rock songs with an intelligent pop sensibility. The only weak point that I have found is the bass. It overpowers and drowns out the two beautiful, dualing guitars. Other than that, I enjoy this cd a lot. Standout tracks are "Thoe Days You Felt Alive", Five Days And Counting", I Loved The Way She Said L.A.", Fairweather Friend", and "You Can't Stop." This is for fans of Jimmy Eat World, The Starting Line, The June Spirit, Count The Stars, and The Goodwill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow., August 28, 2005

This review is from: Remember Right Now (Audio CD)
I have owned this cd for well over a year now, and am still completely enamoured in it. This is one of my most favorite albums of all time. There is not a single weak song on Remember Right Now. This cd is enjoyable from start to finish, over, and over, and over again. I find this album to be comfort music for me. Whenever I need to get my mind off something, this album does the trick. Allow me to breakdown the songs and aspects of the album itself, starting with the first song.

1) Those Days You Felt Alive - What a way to kick off an album. All the tracks on this disc can be favorites, but this one stands out. I love nothing more than to roll my windows down, open my sunroof, and blare this out of my car's speakers. I find myself sometimes embarrassed, because I sing along to this song every time. It's melodic opening is heart-pumping. The lyrics are sung beautifully. I myself play bass, and the bass tones here are perfect and sublime. Superb. 10/10

2) Kill The Drama - This song has an excellent chorus. This song is one of the more upbeat songs on the album. The beat to this song is very driving and pumping. Great. 9/10

3) Five Days and Counting - This is a slower, more pensive song than the earlier two. By no means, however, does this mean it lacks in any way. You can really focus on the lyrics of this song. Beautiful. 10/10

4) I Love the Way She Said "L.A." - Lyrically, this song stands up to the rest of the album, and even takes steps forward. This is somewhat majestic, and beautiful all the same. The drum beat on this song keeps it going perfectly. Check out the vocal tones here. Upbeat. Anyone who has ever been in a long-distance relationship can relate to this one. Excellent. 10/10

5) Stolen From Some Great Writer - Another driving song with a great melody. The lyrics and vocals here are worth listening. It's a better-than-average song, until towards the end, when I believe the band really shows off some talent. What you are left with, is one of the best moments on the cd. Top-notch, but I feel like I can't give every song a 10, and this one I think deserves a 9.

6) In The Same Lifetime - This song is lots of listener's favorite. It's the slowest song on the album, but probably the most majestic. It take some listening to a few times I think to really appreciate. The vocals here are really well-done. However, unless I am in a certain kind of mood, I sometimes skip this track for the next, which is more upbeat. For that reason, I think, I give this song an 8/10.

7) Am I Ready? - Probably 60% of this song is chorus. That may be generous, but I don't mind. It is a great, catchy chorus, but the verses here are often over-looked. What a driving song! This song is best played at high volume. This was my most listened to song on the album when I first purchased it. I think I've worn it out a bit, but it's still fanastic. I give it a 9/10.

8) Fairweather Friend - Some may not like this song. However, I do. Lyrically, it's a little different from the others. It's more interpersonal, I think. The beat is unquestionably catchy. Still, I think, this song pales in comparison to the next. Good, but not great. 7/10.

9) You Can't Stop - Wow. Just listen to the whole song and see if I'm wrong. The song builds up rather quickly and leaves you hooked the entire duration. What a great song to sing-a-long to. The end of this song is the most heart-pumping on the album. 10/10. This song could end the album perfectly, but alas, just when you're left to take in a deep breath, the next song comes and you're challenged to give just one more burst of energy and test your vocals some more...

10) Make My Heart Attack - Easily one of the more sing-able songs on the album. It has a very catchy, although repetitive beat and melody. The bridge is one of the best on the album, aside from the one in "Stolen From Some Great Writer" Again, the bass is exceptional. Lyrically, fantastic. And yes, another, 10/10.

Overall this cd is one of the best I've ever listened to. I grade a cd on the whole, not just the sum of its parts. As a whole, this cd rocks. There is one cool innovation on this album itself that I've never seen before. On the cd itself, one will find the saying, "You felt alive like a motion picture. It's just a matter of where you are when you're awake. When you fall asleep this music will end. Forget everything. Your dreams will remember right now." Reading through the lyrics in the book, you will find highlighted certain lyrics. These highlighted lyrics from each song, in the standard track listing order, form this phrase that you see on your cd. Kinda cool. That's all. Buy the cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars its on victory??? who'd a' thunk it, March 10, 2005
This review is from: Remember Right Now (Audio CD)
victory is known, in my opinion atleast, for churning out s*itty fake "emo" bands like taking back sunday and silverstein by the truckload. so when i heard spitalfield was off vr, i was skeptical about getting "remember right now", despite the catchy single "i loved the way she said LA". finally, one day while I was at tower, i decided to give it a shot. it was only 10 bucks, so i figured, "what the hell"?, it might be pretty good. to make a not so long story shorter, i put it on and never once thought twice about my purchase (never once thought twice????). this is one quality album, using pop-punk style guitars, emotive lyrics and pop hooks to create a 10 track masterpiece. I can honestly say that there isn't one track i like less than another, and i love um' all. if i had to compare them to another group, i'd say the vocals are kinda like new found glory meets rufio (high pitched), the lyrics are jimmy eat world-ish and the melodies are sorta like knockout (rip) meets cauterize meets toyko rose. yep, its a great album, and i highly adivise you to get it. even if u don't like victory records (which i don't), this is one band you can't pass up on. "remember right now", its oh so good.

i was at a friends house one night, going though her cds when i came across the song "I love the way she said LA". i listened to it and decided to give the rest of the cd a chance, i liked it the first few times i listened to it. its very upbeat, catchy and has a few good lyrics here and there. its not as "hardcore" as im used to. the lyrics, for most part, are very...well not too deep. in "am i ready" it goes "if anyone can/i knew you could/you make that brand new shirt/and tie look good/and i knew you would/(i knew you could)"...not the best lyrics ive ever heard. anyone the cd is worthy of four stars, listen to it when youre in a good mood. standout tracks are: those times you felt alive, i love the way she said LA, and stolen from some great writer

if you like this cd, id recomend bands like the starting line and something corporate

5.0 out of 5 stars Chicago suburban band makes the grade, June 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Remember Right Now (Audio CD)
Great sound...upbeat and catchy arrangements and lyrics....Four very talented hard working guys from the burbs....as reported in the Redeye Commuter news, the chugging, stop-start arrangements of their songs set this band slightly apart from its more straight-forward peers, and the dedication to melody is welcome. These guys rock and the crowds they draw prove it. Check out there video coming soon on MTV 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spitalfield...what can i say..., June 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Remember Right Now (Audio CD)
This album is indeed one of the best i've ever had the honor of listening to. Spitalfield is the most original band ive heard in a long long time. They've got energy and emotion. Now that they signed with Victory the sky is the limit for this band. If u don't buy this album u'll be seriously missing out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprised Me, August 24, 2004

Being stuck at a department store and having just over twenty dollars to spend usually means I'll end up buying a couple of cheap cd's that I haven't heard of before. What those cd's may be usually is up to whatever is hot at the moment. On one such day I bought two albums, Silverstein's and this one, having heard not a single song from either band. I guess listening to the god-awful Silverstein album first left a bad taste in my mouth, because I didn't pay much attention to Spitalfield. I threw them both in with a pile of all the other trashy emo cd's I own and didn't touch 'em for months. I guess it was fate, but a couple of days ago I picked up the Spitalfield album by accident on my way out the door and was therefore forced to listen to it. I have to say I'm impressed. Any comparisons to Jimmy Eat World are warranted, since on a couple of songs Spitalfield blatantly rips off their vocal style. And yet somehow I can't blame them. The guitars are fairly interesting, the melodies are catchy, and most importantly the lyrics are better than average. They lean more to pop-punk than emo, but labels are just labels after all. I hope they can develop their own identity on the next album, because it could be really good.

4.0 out of 5 stars What can I say?, September 2, 2004
This review is from: Remember Right Now (Audio CD)
I bought these guys not too long ago and I thought they were pretty sweet, then they started to grow on me even more and now I love them! There are just a few things that are missing and that probably nned to be taken away. I felt that the bass needed to be in the songs a little more, I felt like the guitars were overpowering the bass! ALso the lyrical content ins't that amazing, I mean of course some of them are good but others not so good! But overall, these guys are really good! Who knows, I may even give them a 5th star!
