Book Description

September 17, 2001
I Remember Tom Landry is a tribute to the man who, for 29 seasons, was the Dallas Cowboys. From 1960 through 1988, Landry was the only coach the Cowboys franchise had ever known. He finished with 13 division titles, five trips to the Super Bowl, and a legacy that will endure beyond his death. Former Cowboy stars such as Bob Lilly, Don Meredith, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson, Lee Roy Jordan, Randy White, and more than a hundred others all remember their favorite Tom Landry stories in a book that every football fan will want to read. Quarterback great Roger Staubach contributes the foreword. From players and coaches to media and fans, I Remember Tom Landry is a complete work of remembrances from the people who knew this Cowboy icon.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

From 1960 to 1988, Tom Landry had 20 consecutive winning seasons, won 13 division titles, and made five trips to the Super Bowl coaching "America's Team," the Dallas Cowboys. For 28 years, he epitomized pro football and the Cowboys, and he is often mentioned in the same breath as Vince Lombardi, each referred to as a genius of the game. Authors Freeman and Aron (the retired and current Texas sports editor, respectively, for the Associated Press) utilized over 125 of Landry's friends, relatives, and colleagues in developing the biography. Also contributing are former players such as Bob Lilly, Drew Pearson, and Tony Dorsett, with Roger Staubach writing the foreword. This compelling story of a legendary NFL coach includes numerous black-and-white photos. Recommended. Larry R. Little, Penticton P.L., B.C.

This review is from: I Remember Tom Landry (Paperback)
Tom Landry was a model of consistency both
on and off the field, despite his detractors
like the jerk Bayless! Twenty winning seasons
in a row. Even though never liking the Cowboys,
they were consistant and Landry, Tex Schramm
and Ernie Stautner were the reason! God bless
Tom for giving some class back to the game!
Even if he was a Cowboy!
