Grade 3-6?In these books, children describe their homelands and tell readers why their families left and came to the U.S. Containing somewhat more information than the "Take a Trip to..." series (Watts), each book covers basic topics about their native lands. Useful for short reports, the material is clearly presented and generally accurate (although China is bordered by 14, not 11, countries). Informative, full-color photographs and black-and-white drawings add appeal. However, several photos in Vietnam are not of that country; it takes a careful reading of the captions to determine that they are of unidentified "developed nations" and are meant to provide contrast with conditions in Vietnam.
