Book Description

“Hysterical! Made me want to break out a can of Aqua Net and hit the Jersey shore. Loved the characters and their sweet and steamy love story. You’ll find yourself rooting for Layla and dreaming about Trip for years to come.”
-Mika Thomas, Fiction Review

** Author's Note: Remember When is the first book in a trilogy series but there is NO CLIFFHANGER. This romantic comedy novel is intended for mature teen readers and immature adult readers due to some high school sex scenes, underage drinking, questionable language and 1980s flashbacks. **

Years before Trip Wiley could be seen on movie screens all over the world, he could be seen sitting in the desk behind me in my high school English class.

This was back in 1990, and I cite the year only to avoid dumbfounding you when references to big hair or stretch pants are mentioned. Although, come to think of it, I am from Northern New Jersey, which may serve as explanation enough. We were teenagers then, way back in a time before anyone, himself included, could even dream he’d turn into the Hollywood commodity that he is today.

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you who Trip Wiley is. But on the off chance you’ve been living under a rock for the past decade, just know that these days, he’s the actor found at the top of every casting director’s wish list. He’s incredibly talented and insanely gorgeous, the combination of which has made him very rich, very famous and very desirable.

And not just to casting directors, either.

I can’t confirm any of the gossip from his early years out in Tinseltown, but based on what I knew of his life before he was famous, I can tell you that the idea of Girls-Throwing-Themselves-At-Trip is not a new concept.

I should know. I was one of them.

And my life hasn’t been the same since.

Editorial Reviews

Review

There are so many things I loved about this sweet and funny book. The writing was flawless, the story was addictive; I cried, I laughed out loud and I swooned... I devoured every single minute... all the way through it was handled with so much love and a huge dash of humor... You felt it all and it was such a wonderful experience... Remember When was fun, it was sexy, it was a giggle a minute, it was beautiful....yep, it was perfect.

~Jenny and Gitte, Totally Booked Blog

If you think you know what this book is about based solely on the synopsis, you would be wrong. Remember When is so much more... I laughed out loud, I cried, I swooned, I squeed... I angered, I hurt, and I was in total angst a couple of times... [and] I am SO utterly, undeniably, completely, and overwhelmingly in love with Trip.

~Kathy, Romantic Reading Escapes

From the Inside Flap

Remember When is the first story in an NA romance trilogy. It will take you back to that time before the real world kicked in, that limbo between adolescence and adulthood, that trial of hanging onto the past while figuring out where the future will lie.

With heart-shredding romance, steamy love scenes and hilarious eighties references, readers of all ages will find themselves rooting for Layla and dreaming about Trip for years to come. It's an endearing journey through the tumultuous world of friendship, family and high school...

...and the memory of that one incredible guy your heart just can't seem to forget.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must we wait until June?! March 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the synopsis of this book and honestly was partially on the fence. Was it just another run of the mill romance?

Well, I purchased it, cracked it open (in the digital sense, of course) and did not come up for air for the next three hours until it was finished.

T. Torrest's use of detail made this book a must read. I feel like I know Layla as if she were my lifelong friend. I spent the entire book mentally cheering for her to go after Trip and still cannot wait to see what book two holds for this whirlwind romance.

Don't make the same mistakes I did. Buy this book without hesitation. You certainly will not be in the slightest bit disappointed!

Omg. A flashback romance. No Facebook. No texting. Just really simple fun and love. Brilliant. I love the characters in this book. They were witty and interesting and so real. I can't wait to read how their reunion went. Love love love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5+ Stay golden, Pony Boy Stars! September 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
We are taken back in time to the nineties, a time when life was simpler, high school was all that mattered and the days when the bigger your hair was, the better.

Layla knew her senior year was going to be one to remember. She just never imagined that it would be because of the boy that stole her heart. When Trip transfers to their small Jersey school he is instantly the talk of all the girls – but for Layla he becomes the boy she falls hard for. You know the one, the one you follow around, willing to soak up just about any bit of attention he’s willing to give you – yeah, that one... the one that will have the power to break your heart more than any that came before him and the boy that no man that comes after will ever live up to.

But Trip is destined for big things. His life post high school is all glitz and glam – the life of a Hollywood star. And Layla was his first ‘biggest fan’ all those years ago. Remember When takes you through that year of Layla and Trip, the meeting, the mixed signals and ultimately the love that is discovered just moments before life is ready to lead them down different paths.

I had been eyeing this series for some time, knowing that I would eventually start it and after reading reviews, certain that I would love it. The innocence of this coming of age romance was so well written that I could almost see myself wondering the halls of my high school, pining away for the one.

The setup of this series was another thing that I enjoyed. Going in knowing that this was going to be the history of what happened, rather than the start of a romance. Being able to see the pure innocence in their youth and then being able to dive into them as adults, seeing just how their lives have shaped them is going to be greatly enjoyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars great read and anticipating book 2 February 2, 2013

Such a great read and the preview to Book 2 is such a tease! No tormented souls..nice change from the series books out there. There was definite closure in Book 1 that did not leave the characters bitter or in angst.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an amazing book. What a crazy ride into the past October 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Rarely do I want to give a book 10 stars. This one I do.

Rarely do I place a book in my "all time faves" category on my kindle. This one I did.

Rarely do I purchase the rest of a series as soon as I've finished reading the first one. This one I did.

Holy wow, I'm speechless. What an amazing book. What a crazy ride into the past, falling in love for the first time. The emotional roller coaster, the flash of emotions, the confusion, the heart pounding tension.

This author did an absolutely amazing writing job. It's truly a fantastic book that left me speechless, deeply touched and wanting more through it's sensitivity and emotion.

5.0 out of 5 stars not my typical read but I loved it April 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Remember When is just a super sweet love story.

I take notes while I read, I realize this makes me a dork, but it’s what I do, get over it. Anyway, I have a whole page of notes on this book pretty much just me gushing over how in love I am.

Before I get too far into this review I’m going to admit I did not really want to read this book. I don’t really want to read about high school love. I feel I’m in a weird place in life. I’m too old to read about kids under 20 (18 at least) and too young to read about second marriages and people over 45-50. Yet, I’m trying to branch out, expand my horizons if you will. LOL, that’s funny I almost believe it myself. In reality I started reading four other books before this one and none of them sounded any better so I said “Screw it” and dove into this one with the full intention to suffer through then delete it off the kindle and make room. (I try to keep my pre loaded kindle selections under 200 but am currently surfing at 203 – it makes me twitchy).

Back on topic, OMG! I am so glad I read this book.

This story is about Trip Wiley and Layla Warren, high school seniors. Trip is the new kid in town who of course is totally hot yada yada.

This book was hilarious and easy to relate to. It reminded me so much of my high school experience and my crazy friends, it was almost like a trip down memory lane. It was spot on to what it’s like to be 17 and crushing. Overall the writing in general was hilarious and just down right great. A few editing errors but nothing noticeable or distracting.

I was zooming along reading because it was so much fun and light hearted then BAM. High school drama takes over, but their 17 and it is high school so it was a believable turn of events.
