Remembering Bobby Darin,
This review is from: Remembering Bobby Darin (Audio CD)
This album is a real tour de force for Roger Kellaway, who barely manages to keep under control his technique, exuberance and love for Darin's songs. The trio plays extremely well together, with Bruce Foreman a real standout.

Extraordinary "Straight Ahead" Jazz for sophisticated jazz buffs,
By
This review is from: Remembering Bobby Darin (Audio CD)
If you love "straight ahead" jazz played by three extraordinary jazz artists who complement each other incredibly well, then this is a "must" CD for you. It swings like no other jazz recording that I've heard for ages. In a way, it could be interpreted as an homage to the old Oscar Peterson Trio. "Meditation"; "Once Upon a Time" and "Beyond the Sea" are just a few of the standouts on this Grammy-nominated treasure.

JOY OF JAZZ,
By Drew Daniels "Jazzrecordist" (North Hills, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Remembering Bobby Darin (Audio CD)
This CD is one terrific example of the pure energy of uninhibited musical joy. The music washes over and carries the listener with its playful enthusiasm freed from the bonds of chops and musical depth, put behind for now, in this unpretentious jazz storytelling.
The up tempo tunes are unrestrained romps, the ballads are sensitive, developmental and luxuriously engaging, and the comity of the trio is infectious. This CD is highly recommended for jazz lovers, music lovers, and hi-fi enthusiasts too. |
