one of long johns best, December 31, 2009

this is one terrific cd the musicianship the material and singing are all first class my three favorite cds of his are it aint easy everything stops for tea both recorded by elton john and rod stewart one side each and good to be alive hard to get but worth checking out this one is right up there with those all leadbelly songs all done with various acoustic instruments mandolin harmonium accordian guitars tuba clarinet kind of like rod stewart used to record when the faces backed his solo albums and long johns singing is gruff but great i always thought he was underated as a singer anyways this might have been long johns last cd he did but what a great one to go out on i have lots of favorites here but get your fireplace going sip some wine and soak in this cd arlen rimmer
