4.0 out of 5 stars still refreshing rock/new wave music of this underrated band, July 15, 1999
This review is from: Remembrance Days (Audio CD)
B-Movie were founded in Mansfield (UK) about 1978, there first single release was on Dead Good label as well as the label released two sngs on their excellent sampler "East" (1980). Their early songs (Man On A Threshold, Refugee..) are a mixture between punkrock and powerpop (Joy Divison, Only Ones...) with great melodies, clear structure and strong power. Later they added a keyboard player and the music mutated to the sound of bands like early Depeche Mode, BlancMange, Soft Cell etc. of the new romantic aera. The band had two minor hits, Nowhere Girl (its first release was already in Nov. 1980 on a six track 12", Dead Good label) and Rememberance Day. Despite touring through the USA and Europe and several re-releases of the mentioned hits, there was very less success for the band and about in 1985 they called it a day. This CD is followed by the CD "Radio Days-Vol II", both sampler CDs are more than worth to catch. Great music of an underrated and nearly forgotten band!
