5.0 out of 5 stars RARE MUSIC + RAW TALENT = 1 TRULY GREAT CD October 2, 2012

When it comes to George Gershwin, my musical standards are fastidiously high. Of the many Gershwin recordings in my humongous music collections, three pianists stand at the top of the heap; Oscar Levant, Earl Wilde and Richard Glazier. I guess you can blame it on my youth.

When I was a kid, I discovered pianist Oscar Levant after playing Gershwin's Concerto in F from a set of 78s. It was the first time I had heard this concerto & little did I know it was the greatest recording of that concerto that had ever been made. I became obsessed with Gershwin & Levant and collected everything I could get my hands on. Levant recorded some of the songs on this CD, perhaps a third, and never in stereo.

I discovered Richard Glazier on television. He was performing a concert on PBS in which he told interesting anecdotes about George & Ira Gershwin and played some of their fabulous songs. Mr. Glazier actually knew Ira Gershwin & was invited to Ira's house to perform on George Gershwin's piano, which is now in the Smithsonian. I was DEEPLY IMPRESSED to say the least and instantly became one of Richard Glazier's biggest fans. Whenever he's performing in my area, I never miss his concerts.

This CD contains a lot of rarities played to perfection & will become a highly prized part of your music collection. If you like the way Oscar Levant played Gershwin, this CD was made for you. A Richard Glazier CD is always filled with gems; not a single lemon in the bunch.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS: Buy this CD for yourself. Then, buy one for a friend as well. Any CD by Richard Glazier is a gift that will be treasured for a lifetime. I also recommend that you checkout his fantastic website, which is stocked full of interesting tidbits of history & information.
