This collection of essays stands as a tribute to Martin Niemöller and Reinhold Niebuhr, helping to mark the centennial anniversary of their births. The essays were first presented at the University of Washington, at the 22nd Annual Scholar's Conference on the Holocaust and the German Church Struggle, from February 29th through March 4th, 1992. As a unit, these works show the important roles that these two clergymen of German ancestry played. The book looks at how these two men led the churches' reaction against German National Socialism. Through the story of Reinhold Niebuhr in the U.S. and Martin Niemöller in Germany, readers will become more aware of the intricacies in the paths that were taken to fight the Nazi Regime.
