More About the Author

Andrew Fitz-Gibbon, is Associate Professor of Philosophy, Chair of the Philosophy Department, and Director of the Center for Ethics, Peace and Social Justice, at the State University of New York College at Cortland. He earned his PhD from Newcastle, United Kingdom. He is bishop-abbot of the Lindisfarne Community, and was an accredited minister with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and Ireland, serving from 1981-1999. His academic interests are in the areas of ethics, nonviolence, love, mysticism and community. He is the author, co-author, or editor of ten books, numerous book chapters, and articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Social Philosophy Today, The Journal for Peace and Justice Studies, The Acorn, and Philosophical Practice. Currently, he is the President of Concerned Philosophers for Peace. He is an Associate Editor, VIBS, Editions Rodopi, B.V., where he edits the Social Philosophy Series. He is a fellow of the American Philosophical Practitioners Association, certified in client counseling.
