4.0 out of 5 stars Excelent gun for the price.
The price is very good for the product. The gun is exactly as looks and described on arrival. Extremly accurate with a little adjustment on the scope which the manual explains perfectly clear. The only set back is that with most air guns, sometimes it jams, but not often at all and can usually be avoided by not rushing the load. It is however, just as powerful as...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Value, If It Continues to Work
Once I got the sights adjusted, accuracy and repeatibility of aim seem better than my ability to hold the rifle steady. Construction seems solid. However, plastic gun stock is much too light affecting the overall feel and balance. Noise of discharge is much less than what I expected given the other reviews. Scope is made of relatively cheap materials but it seems to do...

I still have a pellet stuck in my oil drum.:) Exelent buy and highly recomended especially for beginners!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great first gun or one for pest control ..., December 8, 2009
This review is from: Remington AirMaster 77 kit with Scope (Sports)
I bought my Remington 77 kit made by Crosman after reading a full review on them at [...]

For a cheap, first gun for a 10-16 year old this would make an excellent first gun. While there is a lot of plastic on this gun, the main receiver is cast metal. This gave the gun a little more weight and the gun actually feels pretty nice to hold.

Loading a pellet into the 77 can be a challenge -- when you pull back the bolt, the rifle's loading port opens up. Unfortunately, there is NO room to get your fingers into that port. So you have to learn how to roll each pellet just right so that it lands heading in the right direction -- you actually get used to it and it becomes easier.

I would not shoot BBs due to eventually wearing out the rifling and accuracy.

The included scope is not very good and I left it off becuase the open sights are accurate once adjusted.

It generates more than enough velocity to dispatch small game and is lightweight. ... With the 10 pump maximum the Crosman claim of 765 fps is real, but tiring to pump to 10, so you might want to pump to 6 or 8.

In conclusion, the Remington AirMaster 77 is one nice, first rifle -- accurate with flexibility for youngsters and adults. The range of velocity makes it really suited for a wide variety of applications. The open sights are ok and accurate, but the scope is horrible.

For a rifle kit that retails for about $90, I was happy.

But, I would recommend the Sheridan Blue Streak CB9 for $166 + $7 shipping at Amazon due to it being all metal and wood (also made by Crosman, as are Daisy, Crosman, Benjamin and Sheridan.) Crosman owns them all now days!

Good Luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, February 19, 2011
This review is from: Remington AirMaster 77 kit with Scope (Sports)
Pros: Great for beginners, very accurate, comes with scope and manual (which many people tend to ignore thinking they know everything and just shoot away...)fairly light, and doesn't take long to break in.
Cons: requires pumping

I like this rifle alot due to it being pump power (save money and can take anywhere) it does get tiring but you get used to it. Right out of the box I read the instructions and things to note: 1. requires minimum 3 pumps, 10 max. 2. I HIGHLY recommend using pellets, using BB's can wear out the rifle barrel over time and it's just not worth the inconsistancy. 3. Re-oil after every 250 shots, fortunately the pellets come in packs of 250 so you know exactly when to re-oil. Almost every other person that has this rifle complained about the scope, on the other hand, I liked it alot. It took 20 minutes out of the box to zero it and I can hit my targets within 3 inches diameter from 50 feet away. Noise is somewhat quiet, won't set off car alarms. Pumping breaks in after about 10 shots then you notice it's less resistant.

OVERALL: good starter rifle to teach young adults how to operate and shoot PROPERLY, affordable, very accurate and a great pasttime shooting cans or target practice. You can't go wrong with this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pest Control Agent!!, June 15, 2011
This review is from: Remington AirMaster 77 kit with Scope (Sports)
When you are looking at an air rifle , you usually have an objective in mind . Mine was that I wanted power and accuracy in one , but not enough to break the bank.

Being 14 , I have tried several pellet rifles in my time.( My name is not Maria ; I dont have my own computer so I have to use my moms. My name is Joseph ) I dont like break barrels because even if they go fast(supposedly)they give off kick with a "boing!" and causes me to miss . Pnuematics or ( pumps) IMO are better because even if it requires some muscle to build up to pump it ( hey , whats wrong with building muscles?:), they generally have a smoothe trigger pull and no kick- I am able to easily hold my breathe and slowely pull the trigger; with this gun you can't miss! The pump isnt that hard- Ive devolopped the neccessary muscles already!

I originally was looking at the crosman 2100 , but the plastic 'wood' looked too funky . Then I found out that this rifle was the literally exact same thing in black , and that Remington had paid crosman to put it under their name. I loved it as soon as I openned the box. There are a few minor problems though.
1.) First of all , the bolt. You have heard other reviews of trouble dropping the pellet into the chamber. I am known for being a talented artist- (I have talented fingers that know how to put paint on a canvas + I have small fingers like my stature) and even I had trouble putting the pellets in!! The designer blundered , but thats ok. In 2 days , you get the hang of dropping it in right , so its no problem now.
2.)Second , the barrel. Im not sure if it would have gotten worse , but the barrel wasnt stuck as stiff as the benjamin /sherriden I had previously owned. That is fixed easily. A little krazy glue did the trick.

Now I dont know what everyones problem is with the scope - For a cheap scope I thought it was pretty good. Once I sighted it in , I could hit pennies at 12 yards away!! If the scope still isnt to your satisfaction , then by all means get a different scope. The open sights are pretty good too. The plastic is plasticy- what do you expect from a 80$ gun? I dont have a problem with it. If you dont like it , you can always get camo tape and cover it up. A lot of the gun is metal though!! The trigger , reciever , and barrel are all metal as well as the pump.

I dont shoot bb's : bbs ruin the rifling so if you want a bb gun , this is NOT it!..and with ruined rifling you can wave away accuracy. As a pellet rifle however , it contains enough power to shoot halfway through a phone book at 9 pumps , and can hit cans at about 30 yards!!

All in all , this gun is perfect gun for shooting out pesky squirrels or small game hunting. A pellet going 725 fps has everything that a pellet going 1,000 fps could do- both speeds do around the same damage. A pellet going TOO fast is unstable , making it hard to shoot and unaccurate. Remember also that you can always upgrade the speed by using gamo PBA ammo.I would easily reccomend this gun to some one .

Im at the age now that I;ll be getting a real .22 in a few years , so until then , this gun is filling in :)If you want great quality , spend the extra money and get a benjamin sheridan. If you're like me and saving up for your first real gun, then this gun will entertain you until then , without spending a bunch of money. Enjoy!

The Remington AirMaster with scope is just what I needed to help me get rid of the little critters that make a mess of my lawn and eat my flowers and vegetables.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Gun, March 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Remington AirMaster 77 kit with Scope (Sports)
I was very excited after I ordered this gun and checked when it would arrive a couple times every day. It is a product well worth waiting for,it arrived on time, and it is very high quality. The metal receiver is very sturdy, and the stock and pump are very solid and look like real wood. I have not used the ironsights, I just went straight to using the scope. I had to remove the back sight to let the scope fit on correctly, and it was a little hard to mount because the mounting brackets were not perfectly alligned with each other, it was easy to fix once I identified the problem. It is accurate enough with bbs if you are not a serious marksman, but I have heard bbs can slowly wear down the rifled barrel. I have also heard it is best to store pump up bb guns with 1 pump in the chamber to maintain the seals. The bbs that come with this are copperhead bbs, and the pellets are crossman wadcutters. You will run through the supplied bbs and pellets quickly so you should buy some if you don't have any on stock or if this is your first air rifle. My only complaint about this gun is that the bolt is a little bit hard to pull back and is not very smooth. The front sights do not get in the view of the scope, so you don't have to worry about them if you plan on using the scope. I find this a very nice rifle to use and is great for target practice, plinking, or small game hunting.

Once I got the sights adjusted, accuracy and repeatibility of aim seem better than my ability to hold the rifle steady. Construction seems solid. However, plastic gun stock is much too light affecting the overall feel and balance. Noise of discharge is much less than what I expected given the other reviews. Scope is made of relatively cheap materials but it seems to do the job. As mentioned in other reviews, getting the pellets in right can be a bit tricky. If it doesn't go in the right way, just dump it out and try again. For the price, I've no complaints.

Update - Two weeks after using this product, it jammed on a pellet and there didn't seem to be any way of freeing it. Wound up throwing the gun away rather than incur all the time and expense it would have entailed to fix it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor QA and poor Amazon customer service, December 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Son opened this Christmas gift only to find that it would not fire. It appears to have been assembled without the pumping mechanism. Unfortunately, the item was purchased just prior to the holiday return policy date of Nov. 1st. Amazon says I am on my own with the manufacturer. I am quite disappointed in both Remington and Amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars very bad QA, December 27, 2011

Seemed like a great deal, great price, and a good brand reputation, but when my son opened it on Christmas, the gun had been assembled minus some rather critical parts (the pump tube was visibly empty--just a rod and nothing else). Either they shipped me a non-functional display model or Remington/Crosman has some poor QA. Sent it back for a refund and now have to look for another present. Tends to kill the mood. At least Amazon is good on returns (and thank you to customer service).

I purchased this for a pest problem and the stock broke after 1 WEEK! no mistreatment unless you consider pumping it 10 times mistreatment... you can kill a squirrel at range.
