I have a tradition, every time I get a new job, I buy a new shaver. For many years this meant getting a new shaver every 5 or 6 years, then every 3 or 4 years, now it's every 2 to 2 and a half years. At this point, I have a lot of shavers! I got the Remington about 6 months ago. I guess all of them are made in China now, but this one has "Made in China" prominently stamped on the charger plug. It's as if you should consider this your guarantee of quality. I don't know about you, but this doesn't work for me. Chinese goods are a mixed bag, at best. It doesn't even have "Remington" hot stamped into the plastic plug, like virtually all of my previous Remingtons.

So here's my review. This model is by far the cheapest feeling Remington I have ever had. It also seems to run significantly slower. The shave is fair to poor. It's a gentle shave, but it is not a close shave at all. You have to go over and over and over to get most, but not all of your facial hair. It's cheezy looking and has a similar feel to it. The late Victor Kiam who used to own Remington, with great pride, would have never put this shaver on the market. There are better Remingtons out there and infinitely better Panasonic shavers out there. For this price point, you can do way better. For a few more bucks you could get a Panasonic that blows this one away. More recently I got the Panasonic ES8103S Pro-Curve Wet/Dry for $90 and it is more than twice the shaver than this one.

My advice, look around, read the reviews, get another brand. Remington is just not what it used to be with respect to both quality and performance.

Don't waste your money April 6, 2009
Ok, so I'm not speaking out of ignorance. I fully agree with the 2 previous reviews and then some. I have been using Remington ever since I've owned an electric razor... which is pretty much the entire time that I needed to use a razor. My past 2 Remingtons were $[...] from Wal-Mart and more than made me happy. Close shaves, pop up trimmer and edger. Most importantly they both felt like they had a motor in them. Ok, so I'm older and make more money. My second razor that I have ever owned just refused to charge so I decided it was time for a new razor. Low and behold, it seems that that model is no longer available so I decided to shell out 20 more dollars and get this $[...] piece of crap. I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for and you pay for what you get. I overlooked many brands and models and settled on this one and have yet to be satisfied. If I knew of a way to return an item such as this one I would, but since I've used it I don't think they will take it back, so I might have to contact Remington directly.

Again, I will repeat and confirm that the comments in the 2 previous reviews are dead on: poor weight, feels cheap, you will be shaving for hours before you get close to a shave you feel you can show your boss, the pop up trimmer randomly selects individual hairs that it will refuse to cut no matter how many times and in different directions you choose to approach it. I haven't had problems with the battery charging, but even at full charge you will not be happy, impressed, or satisfied. *Sigh*

I never thought a simple electric razor would frustrate me to the degree this one has, but it did. I really feel that if you come out with a newer product, make it $[...] dollars more expensive and it does exactly half of the job that the product for $[...] less does (and I'm sure you all have seen the $[...] remington sitting on the shelf and thought to yourself "nah, that's too cheap for my face, probably is crap"... well if u see one again buy it and send it to me!).

You could get a better shave with a butter knife. I've been using this shaver for almost a month now, and when I shave I need to go over the same areas 10 or more times only to find more hair. Purchased a Braun instead, much better shave. Stick with a multi-directional foil, this Remington only shaves in one direction and requires a lot of pressure to work. You end up butchered, hairy and with multiple lumps.
