5.0 out of 5 stars Closest Thing You're Gonna' Get to a New Duck Hunt!
A great hunting game that really resurrects the feeling I got from playing the original Duck Hunt all those years ago on the NES. 3.0 out of 5 stars Fun
It is what you pay for,and this game was only $20. The graphics aren't great, but the game play is pretty fun. we have spent 4 solid evenings playing this so far, and aren't bored with it. so it was totally worth the money.

A great hunting game that really resurrects the feeling I got from playing the original Duck Hunt all those years ago on the NES. I'm not too big on hunting sims where you have to sit and wait for game to appear and then if shot at and missed, you are right back to where you started; playing the waiting game all over again. That's what I truly loved about RGABH, was the fact that it is completely void of this style of gameplay. Esentially, it is NOT another Cabela snoozefest. Instead, it's a fast-paced, action-filled, arcade-style bird hunting game!

Like I mentioned above, the first thing that came to mind when I jumped into the game and saw my faithful canine companion run out to spook the birds was Duck Hunt. It was a very rewarding and nostalgic moment for me that slapped a smile across my face. Expanding on the Duck Hunt feel, I was pleasantly surprised to see that players can create customizable character profiles and that there was a nice variety in level design too: lake side, snowy fields, etc. And while I have yet to try the multiplayer with three other players, the game does support four simultaneous players, which is awesome for family and friends. However, I did play it with two other players who are by no means technophiles, but the game was easy enough and rewarding enough for all of us to have a great time. I definitely recommend this title to all Wii owners!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of arcade bird hunting action which reminds me of the Classic Duck Hunt!, November 11, 2009

I picked this game up because of the box, and I didn't put it down until I had the controller in my hand. Remington Great American Bird Hunt is fast paced action bird hunting game which is light hearted, and very entertaining. The game is more arcade than a true hunting simulation (which IMHO) is a lot better than other hunting games.

Game does a great job getting you into the fight and throwing lots of targets at you. I've played a lot of games over the years and this one is just pure shooting fun. The game is very easy to understand even though there are a few different ways to play the game. For instance on some levels you have to be really accurate because the game tracks how many misses you make and if you miss too many times you'll find the round over. The good news is that the score you need to pass is relatively low on the beginner levels. My wife, who is not a gamer, was even able to get a Gold trophy in the first tournament, the later tournaments she didn't' do as well, but it just takes practice and any game my wife will consent to play, I'll play!

This bird hunt game reminds me a lot of the old Duck Hunt game on the Nintendo except that the black dog in this game (Rockford is his name according to the manual) will actually help you buy triggering special birds that are worth more points. Rockford is a lot better than the Nintendo dog because Rockford will never laugh at me!

The game is beautiful and the music is very cool. The voice is a little over the top in some spots, but ok. The reason I didn't give the game 5 out of 5 starts is because it's not very long, but the price point makes this game attractive and is certainly worth the $29.99 price. I'll be looking for a sequel for sure.

Secret Hint - I have found that the game will automatically reload your gun for you when you run out of shells, BUT if you manually reload the gun, the reload time is faster! This secret hint will help you get the Gold trophies on the higher levels. If you have any hints of your own, please comment to this review!

Have Fun!

J.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Arcade Fun, November 13, 2009

As the other reviews have noted, this is not a "sit around and hope a bird pops-up" hunting simulator. Rather it is a fast and fun arcade game very much in the style of the classic Duck Hunt. Perfectly suited to the Wii controller. A good selection of trophies and bonus scoring combos keep the action fun. Of course, the most fun is when multiple people play at the same time!

4.0 out of 5 stars First impressions, December 26, 2009

I recently received this game and have played it for a few hours. First off let me say this is the closest thing to the classic Duck Hunt game. I loved it. Having spent a lot of time playing duck hunt on the old Nintendo, I have to say this is very similar with much better graphics, style and ease of play. If you are looking for something complicated then this isn't for you. It is a very basic 3d arcade style shooting game. For an old fart like me it is right up my alley. You shoot grouse, turkeys, ducks, geese, pheasants and you can shoot up to 4 players competing for the action. I have used the Cabelas top shot shot gun and the Zapper. Both work very well in this game.

This is a really fun game! It's not realistic hunting but it's great for the whole family! It's more like target practice. It's fun because you get to shoot at all kinds of different birds and you can't just shoot everything you see. They give you "illegal" targets so you have to be careful. I'm addicted to this game!

This game is great! Although it only has 12 levels, the ability to go back and improve your score and rankings is really fun and very challenging. This game is habit forming, it has been days since we played anything else. We has one point that the game froze up, but that may have been cause by improper shut down of the game, or the Wii itself. After unplugging the system for 15 sec., it was up and going for days again.

As with the other reviewers, it definitely has the quick play arcade appeal of the classic Duck Hunt, but friends who were avid hunters (and not video game afficianados), enjoyed this game immensely as it was very easy to learn (included was one that was over 65 years old!) and the controls are very responsive. My big quip with this game is that the graphics could be better, especially since you get penalized for hitting non-target birds, often they look too similar to the desired targets. Overall a great game, easy to pick up anytime and play, especially with others.

My wife purchased this game for our anniversary. She thought I would like it. Well, we both love playing it. We spend way too much time but sure do have a lot of fun and laughs (at each other).

What I would like to see changed...
I have the Activision gun and when using it, the "shooting" trigger is the front one. Wish it were designed to use the rear trigger more simulating a gun.

Lots of shooting, and isn't that why we purchased this game. Just using the WII controller, but may purchase the gun later. Enjoyed running up my scores while practicing, but the head to head competition against another hunting is terrific. Good thing we didn't have real bullets. Not as realistic as a true hunt, but steady action.
